I know for a fact that there are sellers attempting to "off" their Cayenne's for cheaper prices because of this. In the earlier stages, t is relatively easy for someone to try to disguise the noise.
I know this first hand, t happened to me.
Because this PORSCHE is in near perfect condition, opted to spend the money (several thousand dollars) to replace the motor.
