The new six-cylinder 911. conceived as the successor to the much-loved four-cylinder 356 series. was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show (as was the 901) in the fall of 1963. and it went into series production one year later. It remains. after 50 years. one of the purest automotive designs in history. This early short-wheelbase 911 was special-ordered in Ruby Red (6402) with Black Leatherette B interior. and it left the factory as such on June 20. 1965. According to its Certificate of Authenticity. a Webasto gas heater (01 521). Saftey Belts. Blaupankt Radio "Frankfurt" Nr 872 772 . Loud Speaker. Antenna. and Dunlop Tires 165/15. The car was delivered to the first owner in California and then the second owner purchased it in 1970 after it was sitting with a bad motor. He then went on to put a 67 911 motor in it and as well have it look more like a 67 S. The owner drove the car till he moved from California to Tennessee in 1984 where the car sat in his Garage till last week. its original engine had been replaced (901959). although its original Type 901 transaxle remained. After we purchased it in early this year. chassis 301834 has been waiting here in Alabama for the next owner in a climate controlled facility. While some rust is present to be repair. 90 percent of the body panels and tub remain original. including the early-type rockers. the common spots (Battery Box lower. nbsp;lower door seals)Mostly all original glass. and the chrome-plated brass window frames. The floors are 100% original. Along with suspension. both the engine and gearbox were completely rebuilt in 1984 before the owner moved to Tennessee. The interior is 100% Original from its date of purchase. Finally. this beautiful early 911 was fitted with 14" Fuchs. and it is supplied with a matching spare wheel. The jack. and tool roll are the original to the car. Today. fine matching-numbers examples of early short-wheelbase 911's in unusual colors are in great demand worldwide breaking the $250-300k + .
