Description

1979 Porsche 928 Euro. For sale an immaculate 928 with excellent original paint. low miles. and no cracks in the dash. Below is a video on youtube I posted of me going through the car and starting it. The video may be a bit amateurish. but it is only the second one I have ever done so please be lenient. https://youtu. be/Pz3egDa7YKcIn regards to the video and pictures. the white spot on the drivers rear seat was dry hide food. I already cleaned it off but only after noticing it in the pictures. This vehicle comes with complete service history from day one. It is completely serviced and it runs out excellent. This car was federalized giving it the rear bumperettes. but losing the rear fog light. yet surprisingly no catalytic converter was installed. Normally. the 928 had no catalytic converters installed in ROW markets. only the US. nbsp; however. the engine runs so clean it passed US emissions without it. The paperwork for the test is in the service history. The car runs beautifully. If you start it cold the oil pressure immediately pegs and the engine idles up to 13-1400RPM or so. like it is supposed to. then slowly drops as the engine temperature increases ending up around 800-900RPM. It does NOT overheat or even go beyond normal temperature ever. and yes the gauge reads the correct temperature (most are pegged at the top due to high resistance. hence you never know the actual temperature of the engine). The steering is tight. the brakes are firm and the clutch makes solid. positive. slip-free contact. No clunks or knocks in the suspension and if you go around a corner and put down some power you can feel the passive rear steering go to work. There is no other car that feels like this. The Speedometer. odometer. oil pressure gauge. coolant temperature gauge. all the warning script. clock. trip reset. fuel gauge and of particular interest the voltage gauge all work perfectly. Even the nicest 928 reads low voltage due to resistance between the cluster and the battery which is a similar issue to the coolant temp gauge. this car does not have those problems! The rear wiper. reverse lights. brake lights. high beams. fog lights. headlight motor. electric locks. front windshield wipers. Turn signals. hazard switch. blower motor (in all positions). parking brake. and windows also work perfectly. Even the tiny lights in the passengers vanity mirror work!A/C also works. is cold. and has been converted to R134AThere are a few small things I should mention that do not work. the light bulb for the turn signal indicator in the instrument cluster is burned out. The signals work and the relay clicks audibly it is just the indicator bulb that is bad. The rest of the bulbs are fine including the backlight bulbs. The radio does not work. I tried to turn it on and checked the fuse but it was fine. I assume the radio is bad. but you would be hard pressed to find a new radio that cost more than 200$. The washer fluid pump is bad. Uro parts makes a replica of the original for <30$ which should not take more than a half hour to fit. And. the shift boot plastic hold down bracket that goes (inside) the shift boot to hold it down will need to be replaced. it cracked and the shift boot moves around because of it. It is invisible with the shift boot installed around it and you could glue it. but I would just replace it. The paint shines like a mirror with no fading anywhere and the body is without a single dent. The car is also fitted with a staggered set of 16" phone dial wheels with the correct and rare 928 offset. The 2 front wheels are standard 928 wheels essentially where as the rears have a 1" deeper dish on the face. It is not a huge difference but looks excellent while still maintaining the stock look. The timing belt has been done. but the added benefit of the early cars. like this one. is that if the timing belt breaks it will not blow the engine like the later cars do. Later engines were designed as interference engines. They did have a bit more power. but if your snapped a belt you might as well scrap the car. In this car you just line everything up and install a new belt. The other benefit of the early cars is that they do not have a bunch of short and brittle old fuel hoses which on the later cars require regular attention or a new fuel rail and different injectors due to the fuel injection system they use. This car has CIS which is Mercedes/Bosch developed "mechanical" fuel injection which is endlessly reliable and serviceable. There is not a computer in this car!In my opinion this is the best iteration of the 928. bar none. no question. Clean lines. simple interior. simple engine. and rarest of the lot. There has been loads of service bestowed upon this particular example as evidenced by the service history to include - Timing belt. injectors. rear muffler. cap/rotor. steering rack. shift bushings. plugs. brakes. etc. within the last couple of years as well as (brand new) tires with <150 miles on them. All in all this is an excellent example. which has been maintained over the course of it's life and starts. runs and drives excellent. Please contact Justin with any questions 651. 342. 0928
