Description

Bittersweet is the only way to describe our decision to sell our Campmobile bus. We bought the bus for our children's Hawaiian Shave Ice business which was a great success. It was always a hit at the Blue Suede Cruise car show and was requested for the Beach Boys concert last year. The business has been sold and the bus has been converted back to its Campmobile camper setup. It's now ready for the next owner, aybe to relive some glory days from those psychedelic years or ..... The former owner said he and bought the bus in 2011 from a family friend (the second and longest owner) for deliveries in Manhattan. He never used the bus due to the high insurance cost and sold it to me in May, 012. Until he purchased it, he bus was kept in Arizona. The original owner purchased the bus in Germany while stationed there and brought it home to Phoenix, Z in late 1967 or early 1968. He sold it at that time to the second owner in Tucson, Z who used it for family campouts. The engine was replaced approximately 6 years ago and runs great. Some of the weather stripping has been replaced and the remainder is in a box from Wolfsburg West. The tail light lens, ront blinkers, eadlight chrome rings, askets and outside mirrors have been replaced with authentic parts from Wolfsburg West as well. The bus runs and drives great, teering and brakes are smooth and tight, nd it tracks very well. It never failed in our business or personal usage and is ready to go anywhere. This bus is rare in many ways. It's a split screen safari, alf length popup top and one of the last of the original style buses before government mandated changes took effect. Overall, he metal is in very good shape. The original floor pan in the cab has an inserted panel on the passenger side (there when I bought it) and there was light rust on the driver's side and just inside the cargo doors, ll of which has been removed and repaired. That's all the rust there was. The bus has no evidence of being wrecked or even dented. The passenger door lower hinge is slightly bent which makes it a little difficult to shut. It has the swing-up dining and serving tables which are not installed (shown in photo on engine deck) and the original Sapphire III radio. The bus has been converted to 12 volt, o I don't know if the radio works. The interior is not original nor is the paint. The front seat needs recovering but the rest of the interior is serviceable. This '66 is ready for new adventures as is, refresh or customization of the interior, r is the best candidate I've seen for a complete restoration due to its superior body condition and excellent mechanical condition. Please email your questions or for more photos. Thank you for your interest and happy bidding, Will
