Description

I'm selling my 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle. It's been in my family since new and dealer serviced up to approx. 170k miles. I've done service on it since purchasing it from my father about three years ago. I'm only selling the Beetle because I came across a deal on another car from a friend I just couldn't pass up. otherwise I would be keeping it as a second car. I want to be as honest as possible on the listing so the buyer knows as much about the car as possible. If you are nearby enough to Torrington. CT to come take a look at it I encourage you to contact me to set up a time to come check it out. This is not a perfect "mint" car. It's been used to commute. takes trips. and it's done it all very well and should continue to do so. But you are looking at a car with over 200k miles and 15 years old so some faults are to expected. Who should be buying this? Someone with some mechanical ability or has a friend that can help with work as needed on it. So I'll get right to it. known faults:-Check engine light on. code for catalytic converter. If you happen to be a CT buyer the emissions check is current until July 2015. -ABS light comes on intermittently. -Some rust. scratches. and dents (noted in the pictures)-Driver's seat has a hole worn through the bolster. shift boot is peeling/cracked. small portion is headliner separated (not hanging)-A/C compressor clutch failed (so no a/c but the system has no known leaks. i. e replace the compressor and a/c should be operational again)-Starter occasionally over runs (makes a chirp sound after starting. ) Many VW starters in this generation have this happen. it has been like this for 4+ years and still works. as a bonus a used replacement starter is included if it were to fail. -Tires are due for replacementOnto the good:-Still gets 30 mpg on the highway. -Comfortable wide seats. great interior space. Fits people over 6 feet tall very well. My father is 6'3" / 300 pounds and it fit him very well. -Timing belt. waterpump. thermostat. and coolant flange all replaced within the past year as routine maintenance. -Replaced power steering rack with a lower mileage part. -Rear springs and shocks replaced approx. 2 years ago. Now onto the extras: I had purchased and used for a few months another Beetle that was in worse condition than this one. And since it was in worse condition I decided to take it apart for spares. some of which I have sold but many to be included. you could sell the spares. keep them all. sell some or if you prefer not take any of them at all. -Bosch starter-Full set of window glass (excluding windshield). so that's front door glass. rear quarter windows. and a rear hatch with intact glass. -Spare transmission - 5 speed manual as well-Spare engine - approx. 170k miles on this engine. missing front accessory bracket. -Spare ECU-Full wiring harness including fuse and relay panels-ABS pump-Wiper motor. linkage. and wiper arms. -Headlight switch and misc. other interior switches-Steering wheel and airbag-Passenger airbag and dash cover-Front and rear seats in light grey and light grey carpetThis will be sold as is. no warranty. Also the roof rack is NOT included it has already been removed and sold separately. Please feel free to contact with with any questions regarding condition. payment. and pickup / shipping.
