Description

1970 BSA Lightning Motorcycle

One of a kind on our showroom floor! This BSA Lightning motorcycle is fitted with its original, umbers matching 650cc vertical twin engine. Largely original, ow miles, ith the odometer reading of only 9,376 miles! Hurry in to see this great bike while it lasts!

In 1970 BSA began to struggle due to the emergence of Japanese motorcycles such as, onda, amaha, awasaki, nd Suzuki. With that, he company didn’t have a lot of funding to support any major changes to its motorcycles. In fact, SA even dropped a model entirely, he Royal Star, ue to its lack of sales. Since there was a lack of funds to support any major changes, he few minor changes made going into 1970 were better brakes now with an 8 inch drum up front and a 7 inch drum at the rear, rear passenger grab rail was added behind the seat, nd this would be the last year of having the oil reservoir tank underneath the seat.

This BSA Lightning was found in a Southern Missouri collection were it was a well preserved original that has been parked for several years. It recently received a new battery, ully rebuilt carburetors, ew spark plugs, ew front & rear Dunlop Gold Seal tires with tubes, alanced & trued front rim with new spokes, ront fork shock boots, long with fresh engine oil. Today it shows only 9,376 miles on the odometer it starts with just one kick, nd revs smoothly through the gears! With what appears to be all original paint and chrome, ll cleaned and polished, t continues to show very well as any well kept original could. The BSA rubber pedals are all in excellent condition with exception to the kicker pad. It obviously shows more wear due to normal use. All chassis and engine stamps are clearly visible, nchanged, nd matching as factory original. The seat also appears to the original material that is very clean without any tears or holes. It’s a great English ride for the motorcycle enthusiast who wants to add to his collection. Come in and see it for yourself!
