Description

1968 Moto Guzzi V700 – 3rd Owner Bike
Moto Guzzi is the 2nd oldest bike manufacturer in continual existence next to Harley and the price of these classics continue to rise.

This is a gorgeous motorcycle and ALWAYS turns heads and sparks conversations wherever I go! The look of this bike speaks for itself. Be the 4th owner of this absolute classic! Leather Saddle Bags included.
First thing is first. The Frame number and the engine are not matching for this reason: The 1st owner purchased this Moto Guzzi V700 from a Moto Guzzi Dealer in 1968 Sacramento CA area. The original engine had an impurity in the case and was immediately returned it to the dealer when he discovered it. Moto Guzzi replaced the entire engine with this UNIQUE V700 engine that is a waffle case and appears to be from an Eldorado. IT IS NOT. It was a replacement from the dealer in 1968.
He owned and loved this bike for 20+ years when it was sold to owner #2. This owner, lso located in Northern California, dored this bike for many years. He put the unique LAPD CHP Moto Guzzi seat / saddle on her, took the tank down to stainless and ran her without doing anything. he told me she ran strong for him with no problems. His son took it with him to Seattle in 2008 or 2009. He rode the bike up. There she was painted silver/grey (tank left stainless) and rode her.
Compression tests done by the second owner showed consistent results of close to 200 per cylinder. He believed that replacement engine may of had over-sized pistons, ossible La Mans. I have not verified this. It has always had more "get up" than other V700s I have ridden.
Second thing: The WA title incorrectly lists this Guzzi as a 1969. IT IS NOT. 1969 Serial Numbers do not start until well after the Serial Number of this Guzzi. There is other factual evidence such as the lack of a riveted Serial Plate, tc. I spoke with the previous owner recently who also verified that this is a 1968 V700 NOT a 1969 Ambassador.
Odometer is frozen at: 54347
Actual mileage is unknown, lthough I suspect it is within a few thousand miles of that at best.
I acquired her and did the following:
  • Replaced Wiring Fuse Box located in head lamp
  • Replaced Starter
  • Replaced throttle Cables and rubber carb stops
  • Replaced brake cables
  • Pin Striping done locally by well known professional
  • Moto Guzzi Emblems on Tank, enders, ool Boxes
  • Replaced Speedometer Light Bulbs
  • Added Cafe Mirrors
  • Replaced Generator Belt
  • Replaced Spark Plug And Distributor Wires
  • Replaced Fuel Lines and Fuel Filters
  • Replaced Head Lamp Light

This is the early U.S. import that has the original European style RIGHT SIDE SHIFT. Conversion Kit to left side shift is available for these from dealer or online if desired.

This is the best looking Moto Guzzi Big V Twin I have ever seen personally, ut that is in the eye of the beholder. Truly sad to see her go. She is RELIABLE and a STRONG RUNNER.

I do not offer any shipping on this motorcycle BUT will assist with Buyer's Shipping / Freight Company in being reasonably available, elping to load up, ie down, tc. I DO NOT OFFER A SHIPPING OPTION. LOCAL PICK UP IS FINE.

Please ask any questions you may have and I will respond as quickly as I am able.

I have excellent feedback on ebay and have been a member in good standing for 15 years.

As many of you Guzzi fans may know, arly Moto Guzzi V700s did not have matching frame and engine numbers upon import to to the U.S. and I assume this one did not either. I want to clarify that whatever the original engine was that came with this Guzzi, t was replaced right away with a factory supplied and dealer installed unit. I hope this helps.
Also, will supply additional pictures to any serious bidders upon request. This bike is a beauty as she sits. A daily driver.
