Description

WHAT IS IT? Moto Morini made a miniature version of their excellent V-twin lineup with the 2C. The engine of course is the same basic power unit. displacing 239cc. but everything else is physically smaller than the more common 350 versions. For example. even the headlight is teeny and it all adds up to a significant weight savings of about 80 pounds versus the 350 (figures from Mick Walker’s book). You really notice the difference while riding and the 250 is particularly flickable. yet stable in corners. It is incredibly easy to kickstart (see video). Most were sold in Europe and the UK. Hermy Baver told me that he only imported 50 into the US. Parts are easily available from North Leicester Motorcycles in the UK. Don’t let the UK bit worry you; they respond immediately to email. they are very knowledgeable and helpful. THIS BIKE’S HISTORY: Build sticker on bike shows assembly date of December 1980. Sold new in 1981 by BMW Fort Worth and they resold it as a used bike to me in 1986. I bought it for my then-wife but she never took to riding and so it’s mostly been garaged. I was going to pass it on to one of my sons and so put considerable time and money into getting it ready for the road. He ended up not taking the bike so it is time to sell. NEW PARTS: •Avon Roadriders with zero miles. 90/90X18 front. 100/90X18 rear. •Wheel bearings front and rear. •Timing belt installed with factory tools. •Petcocks both sides. •LH sidecover including ‘250’ emblem. clips. knob and washer. •Sealed battery. •Spare halogen headlight bulb. CONDITION: Mechanical. Starts and runs very well. and sounds better than my 350! Please see video. No smoke on startup even from cold. Has the enviable cable-operated carb enricheners to make starting even easier. Original airbox. Carbs were cleaned and float bowls drained after the photo shoot. Front brake feels great and fluid was flushed with new Castrol LMA. Clutch and gearbox work fine. Electrical. Everything works: high/lowbeam. turnsignals front and rear. tail light. brake light operates from either front or rear. horn beeps. neutral light operational. Superb original finish. No dents. Niggles would include some missing paint on gas cap and portion of front wheel (shown in closeup photos); stitching at front of seat has let go but seams are stable; RH handlebar rubber torn but levers and bars are fine. Pinstriping has faded in places and inevitably plating on many fasteners is showing its age.
