Description

You are looking at a 1941 Royal enfield originally made for WW2. The War Department record number. stamped into the engine case. shows it was ordered in 1940 and left the factory in 1941. After completing its military service. it was "civilianized" and registered for the road in 1947 (Has a current 1947 California registration with matching frame and engine numbers). At that time it was painted the forest green and black that its currently in. however underneath all the dust and patina is the original British Army green of the early 1940's (not the olive drab green after the US joined WW2) and can be seen in a few wear spotsIt's complete with a field stand. passenger seat and original pannier racks. the pannier bags are new reproductions. but exact copies of the originals. Made by a specialist company. they are in the correct color and webbing pattern for the era with authentic markings. Its 350cc engine runs great. once you get the starting procedure down! (fuel on - fill carb - set choke and timing controls - decompression valve - throttle - kick start and go!) All while being shot at by Germans! The dynamo. hubs. front brake and bearings were recently serviced. This is a British spec bike so the shifter is on the right side with an upside down 4 speed shift pattern. Also comes with a box of hard to find spares. original civilian log book. original manuals and paperwork. and a couple of classic bike magazines for reference. The new owner could undertake a complete and correct restoration. returning it to its military livery. or ride it as is complete with years of dust! Understand this is a 75 year old motorcycle and is extremely fun to ride but is not your daily commuter. Note: The last picture is of a bike leaving the factory in 1941 and is from the same batch as this bike. I have a copy of the complete Royal Enfield war history put together by a member of the owners club. It goes into extensive detail of all the bikes ordered during the war and variations by year.
