Description

This bike is #1 of only 20 LE's made in 2004 so it is extremely rare and special. I am the second owner for the last 9 years. I purchased it from the original owner in 2006 who bought it new in Reno Nevada. Although I live in Corpus Christi TX. I kept the bike at my house in the Texas hill country. hence there is only the typical type of wear and weathering on a bike in a dry. salt free environment that was kept all its life in a garage. I am selling it because I hardly ever ride it as I just don't have the time to go to my hill country house. Overall. the bike is in excellent condition for a bike that has been ridden 3000+ miles and it 11 years old. There is a small quarter size dent in the tank that was there when I purchased the bike and some light scratches on some of the chrome and paint. There are few bikes of this age that are in better condition. There are a few upgrades on the bike: side stand (very handy). K&N air filter. carb re-jet. nbsp;shorty pipe. larger vintage style headlight. and a larger front sprocket by one tooth to increase the speed of the bike for cruising on the highway. I have removed the electric starter cause I like to kick it. looks cooler! I have all the original parts that will be included with the purchase. including the starter and other mirror. I have also converted the tranny to oil instead of grease which is extremely desirable. as these RE's don't shift worth a crap with the grease. not nearly as well as a modern bike. even with the oil. but much better than grease. Speaking of oil and grease. the bike leaks a few drops of oil which is typical of bikes of this design and era. If you don’t like that. get a Honda. The tires are original and have some typical cracking of the rubber on the outside wall. The bike will cruise at 65mph all day. It will usually start on first or second kick but don’t expect that all the time as it can be contrary like any RE. It has never left me stranded and attracts a crowd wherever I go. Just a word from the wise…. these bikes are based on 70 year old design and technology so don’t expect it to perform like a modern bike. The clutch lever is stiff. the kick start is hard. the brakes are only adequate. the shifting is a chore. and the power is minimal. but if you like that sort of stuff. you will love this bike! I just don’t want someone to think that they will be buying a bike that rides. feels. and performs like a modern bike. It is super cool. but although you could. it isn’t a daily driver in my humble opinion.
