Description

Dear Moto Aficionados. /p> This scrambler is my translation from what began as a 2006 Thruxton with front-end damage to a purposeful. more capable dual sport. Long-legged suspension and knobbies were the most direct route to the cattle-guard-jumping performance I look for when riding the dirt roads of rural Texas. Inspiration for this came from the original Trophy Trail models with cues from contemporary builders like Analog’s ’71 Trail Blazer and Spanish builder’s TraMontana Scrambler. with a mix of modern and vintage. evident in the 70’s alloy fenders and MX bars. While the paint. wheels. and assorted newer parts are fresh. I wanted to retain the feel of a purpose-built bike…and left visible ‘authentic battle damage’ it has acquired throughout its life. as it was intended to be ridden. In action on YouTube: https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=vAkgAKTdOkY https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=UIG1oOezcuo&feature=youtu. be https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=iBlDeHSojHM&feature=youtu. be The Good: · This Scrambler has the distinction and honor of being admitted to the 2015 Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin. during which time it received an overwhelming amount of positive praise and press. · The change in steering / suspension geometry happily made her more nimble and eager to turn-in. · KTM USD fork / twin-disc. 19” front wheel conversion. · With 10” ground clearance and 17. 25” rear Ohlins Shocks. this bike is TALL. · Wheels re-laced to black rims w/TKC 80 knobby tires · British Customs high-headers and stainless open-cones (carbs adjusted accordingly. and a LOUD exhaust note). · Seat cut down to solo configuration and reupholstered (matching tool pouch for parcel grid on tank). Custom Aluminum seat brackets fabricated. · OEM Tank and side panels repainted. parcel rack been added to the OEM · Vintage aluminum Honda Scrambler fenders cut and mounted. · Kickstand extended 4” · Welded on rear frame hoop w/ integrated LED stop/signal lights. · MotoGadget bar-end signals · Tomaselli hand grips to match seat (boots and belt!) · BC Aluminum skid plate. · New Nissin front master cylinder. new brake lines run and bled. · New Chain and chain-roller installed (to clear frame at steeper angle). The Ugly: full disclosure · The pipes probably need a heat shield for that sensitive inner thigh area when you put your foot down (will include the small oval shields that came with the BC headers). · The radiator is weeping oil near the top. probably a crush-washer for the banjo bolt. The amount pictured is the result of a couple short rides. very little. · The upper triple-clamp isn’t quite clearing the tank recesses I hammered and beginning to rub a teeny spot in the paint on the left side (pictured). · The more staunch suspension setup is a bit firm. so may take some tuning appropriate to its rider. · The aforementioned pro may also be a con to shorter riders. This bike is TALL. Like butt-off-the seat at stops. Tall. Only one foot down. Tall. MX Tall. (at least to me at 5’8”). Seat heigh = 35" uncompressed. · The Speedometer is not currently functional. as the original axle drive will not fit the larger axle. My eventual solution to this would be a GPS speedo and Tach combo. · The right hand case came with scrapes from a previous low-side. and the 45yr old alloy fenders have some scrapes and scratches. · This is a Salvage bike with a TX Salvage Title. Thank you for the interest. and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. Cliff512-947-0190
