1980 Yamaha XS400

1980 Yamaha XS400 with no title. bill of sale only. Mileage is questionable as it appears to have a gauge set added sometime recently. Bike was purchased by me two years ago and I have been unsuccessful in titling it so I have decided to put it up for sale as a parts bike. It was running last year before I drained the fuel when it became obvious I was not going to get it legal. Good parts: Engine shows good compression on both cylinders. no unusual noises. No broken fins or missing engine parts. Carbs have been rebuilt with new kits and reassembled with stainless sockethead hardware and carb mounts are crack free. Starter is fine. Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. Cables are in great shape. Front brake and rear brake function well. Sprockets are probably 50%. Wheels and bearings are great. and tach and speedo function as they should. Switchgear all work. Seat cover has no tears. Two batteries go with it. one good. one good as backup. Questionable parts: There is a small leak at the clutch pushrod seal. Front forks have a bend in them. can't see it with the naked eye and they don't leak. but it makes mounting the front wheel a slower process than it should be. It appears the bike was downed in a slow speed accident as the forks have a bend and the headlight nacelle is wrinkled up. There is no headlight mounting hardware. Exhaust has some discoloration but no leaks. Tank has dents and needs lining but has no leaks. Tires have decent tread and no cracks but are several years old. Parts shown go with bike.
