Description

This one-owner 1962 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special has been sitting in its owner's Birmingham warehouse, ntouched, or 30 years. Taken off the road in 1978, he Fleetwood has just 24,000 miles and was placed in excellent dry storage. The car waschauffeur-driven its entire time on the road and keen eyes willnote that it was custom-ordered without a radio despite coming with other high-dollar options (namely, ir conditioning). The family matriarch did not want her chauffeur distracted, I don't listen to the radio andneither should Mitchell."
The prominent family that owned this top-of-the-line Cadillac wants it to go to a good home that will appreciate its mid-century splendor. As you'll see from my other auctions, hey owned many Cadillacs over the years, lacing the former models in storage when they bought a replacement. Other than this 60Special, here's a 1966 Fleetwood Brougham and 1941 Series 62 for sale. These are unmolested originals, eady restoration or to refurb to a daily-driver state.
What I've done: I aired up the tires and eased the Fleetwood out of its long hibernation this week. You can see inthe pictures that it was covered in a deep layer of dust. Because the dust hid a multitude of sins, felt it best to give the car a wash so that you can see the many chips, ings, ents, wirl marks, nd scratches from 16 years on the road and 38 years of storage. The paint has, niformly, racked in small chips. The best description is that it looks like the blue and white cookware you might take camping. It hasn't rusted--it's just never going to shine up properly. The interior is in good original shape. Bad: the driver's seat is shot and there arenicotine stains throughout. Good: the dash is gorgeous, he wood is very good, he floor mats are from a time-warp (and in a color you cannot replace today). The exterior chrome is good and takes a shine well. All of the parts are there (two hubcaps are missing in the photos, ut they are in thetrunk and like the others, mazingly nice).
Overall, he car is very dry. Doors open and close with accuracy. The engine is complete and dry. It appears that it will come to life with ease, ut rather than take it to ashop to get started, am saving you the cost in the event you're a home mechanic and want to get her running yourself. Obviously, ll the major systems will need to be examined and inspected before road use: tires, rakes, oses, elts, uel tank, tc.
Last note: I do not have a BUY-IT-NOW but am open to offersand will consider ending theauction early. The car is located in Birmingham, labama in a large warehouse fully accessible to tow trucks, railers, nd so forth. Note: Alabama does NOT title cars manufactured prior to 1976, o in accordance with state law, this Cadillac will only come with a signed, otarized bill of sale for transfer of ownership.
I have owned 50 old Cadillacs and am a member of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club and the Classic Car Club of America. I've bought crummy cars before off eBay that were poorly represented, o my effort here is to give you what I'd hope a seller would tell me: this is a good, ry, ne-owner, ow-mileage, ell-optioned, riginal car. It even comeswith the original key holder from the dealer and delivery inspection sheet.
