Description

This 57 Olds 88 Holiday Coupe with J2 is an incomplete restoration. I am listing this Olds for the widow of the owner/builder. a long-time member of the Southern California Oldsmobile Club. The car has been carefully stored inside a modern garage in Riverside. CA for more than 30 years. The car is a low-mileage California-built car and was completely rust free when the restoration commenced. The project was started in the mid-80s and stopped when the car was nearly ready for paint. The J-2 engine installed in the car is completely rebuilt but appears to have never been run. The Jetaway transmission (also re-installed) is the original unit but we do not know if it was rebuilt. This 88 was originally an Alcan white car with a red accent stripe. The J2 set-up is a complete factory installation with the vacuum actuator. all three numbers-correct carburetors (with dead correct spring returns) and the throttle vacuum switch valve. The air cleaner is also a correct 57 Olds unit. Many cars offered as "J2" cars have incorrect carbs. linkage and fittings. This set-up is totally correct 1957 Olds. The chassis and underbody is clean and painted. It appears that the body may have been removed from the car as the undercarriage work appears to thorough and of high quality. The original padded dash is in excellent condition and is near to perfect. The factory electric windows were added from a 1957 Super 88 parts car. Power windows technically were not available on an 1957 88. The car has power steering and power brakes. The car comes with un-restored seats and re-platable bumpers front and rear. It also includes the driveshaft assembly. It is likely but not certain that all of the quarter panel body side mouldings are present as well. The interior door and rear seat panels are missing but possibly stored in the building. contact - Pete Clayton 831 637-6949 (home) 831 297 0890 (cell)PLEASE SEE MY OTHER LISTING FOR A 1957 OLDSMOBILE SUPER 88 2 dr HT
