ENGINE IS KNOCKING, ILL NEED REPLACEMENT OR REBUILD. SELLING AS-IS!
Hello interested buyers,
Here for sale is a 2001 Honda Prelude Base model. First I would like to give a little history of this vehicle. The previous owner had the current engine installed because the previous engine had a bent valve. I originally purchased it not running with the intention of doing an overhaul of the major components of the car. In order to get the engine running, only had to swap the balancer shaft pulley to OBDII so that the crankshaft position sensor could send the correct signals to the ECU. After that I began to drive it gently for one week and put about 500 miles on it. I replaced the fuel filter and repaired the FITV as well as corrected some of the wiring in the vehicle. I began to notice that the engine would stall after warming up to operating temp plus a few more minutes of driving. I thought it was an IACV issue, ut my oil light also began flickering at idle although the car was full of oil. I thought that was an oil pressure switch problem...
After that observation period, attempted to take it up to VTEC only to find that nothing happened. It ended up being the VTEC solenoid screen being filled with gunk. I knew that wasn't a good sign, s regular maintenance would've prevented that. I replaced the oil with Mobil 1 10w-30. During the oil change, noticed silver swirls in the old oil. At the time, didn't think much of it, ut it was a sign of the worst. A couple more days of mostly highway commuting, nd I noticed the engine knocking during one commute home. That was pretty much game over. I wish I could continue this project, ut I don't have the time or the wife's permission to finish.
InteriorInterior is spray painted black. Not a fan of the spray paint, ut the panels are in physically good shape. The driver's side panel is missing the felt strip that runs along the window channel. The center console panel that covers the OBDII connector is missing.
ExteriorThe hood has a small dent that caused the paint to chip. You can see that in the pictures. The fenders have been rolled and pulled and there is a little cracking of the paint on the fender. There are also minor scratches here and there that can be polished out. Car has blackhoused Depo lights, og lights, poiler, nd honeycomb grill.
SuspensionHas Tien Basics installed. I had the car lifted a little and sits at the current height. Needs a sway bar bushing on the driver's side. I also noticed a torn tie rod boot. The rear has an SPC camber kit installed. The rear links have cracking in the boots. (The car is 15 years old and is normal wear. These should be replaced)Wheels are XXR 526s, ires have inside camber wear
EngineCylinder one has a spun bearing. I haven't broken this motor down to verify the extent of the damage, ut the knocking stops (becomes very quiet) when cylinder 1 spark plug wire is removed.I had a new catalytic converter installed.Car has a cold air intake and DC header.A/C lines are removedManual timing belt tensioner installed. (DIY style)
ElectronicsKenwood head unitAlpine Type-R 5.25" ComponentsCar wired for amplifier
Car has current emissions! This car is very fun when it runs. Transmission and clutch feel great. It needs love to be a really nice mode of transportation, r turn it into a show car, r race car. I present you with a blank canvas. It's up to you, he buyer, o paint your own picture. If you have any questions, on't hesitate to ask. The car is located in Atlanta. It can move enough to put on a trailer, ut I don't recommend driving it more than a few feet. I will also take trades for local sellers.
