Description
Grumman LLV:
The Grumman LLV was designed for the USPS (US Postal Service) as their go to vehicle for Letter carrier street mailbox delivery for nearly the last 30 years. In some rare occasions these units were also sold New to Municipalities for things other than delivering mail. These rare units where equipped with a passenger seat on the Left side instead of the typical Mail Tray that would normally be found in a Post Office version.
Vehicle History and Discription:
This LLV was originally Owned and Operated by the City Of Keene NH Police Department where it served as the Meter Maid/Reader Vehicle. There is a Photo in the pictures section of how this LLV looked while in service with the Keene Police Dept. At some point after that it was transferred over to the City of Keene Department of Public Works and used there till the City of Keene sold it to me in July of 2010 with 56,736 Miles on it.
After purchasing the this LLV it sat for approx 7 months till a I was able to get it to the Paint Shop to have it repainted all White again. At that time I installed all new lights and lenses and a set of 4 new steel wheels with tires. And over the last 3-4 years It has received a new gas tank, driver seat, pass seat, shocks, starter, Aux Fan, Mirrors, floor mat, Fuel lines, Battery and Tune up etc. Most of this was done 3 years ago or so. The Starter, Passenger Seat and fuel lines where done in the last year. These are items that where all done by local shop, as I would never be mistaken for a mechanic.
I received the vehicle with 56,736 Miles on it in July of 2010. I started using the vehicle in the summer of 2011 and basically only used it in the summers from then on. It now has only 57,761 as of 7/21/16 and will get a few more here and there till it sells. The reason there are so few miles put on it in the last several years is that I used this unit for Promotional events and such for my busines, so it essentially never left Merrimack NH since coming here from Keene NH. This is the primary reason why I am selling it. I simply do not use it enough to warrant keeping it. It’s been fun and interesting to have this as they are very rare, but it has come time to sell.
Condition:
The overall condition of the unit is good. Exterior wise, paint, lenses and such are all very nice. Interior is in good shape with new seats, new rubber floor and new aux fan. The dash cluster housing is cracked and that can be seen in the pictures. It has the Typical LLV issues of sloppy shifter linkages, shift indicator is not working, Fuel Gauge sticks/doesn’t drop below half a tank, hvac cables needing adjustment and such, as well as the typical rain water windshield leaks and such (all typical LLV things that anyone who drives them on regular basis could tell you or ask any Postman). Mechanically starts up every time even after long periods of in activity, runs and seems to shift fine, but like all LLV’s a little noisy in the cab. Has a few drips underneath like most older cars. All in all, just a cool, unique and rare vehicle.
