For sale at no reserve is my 1963 Studebaker ZIP (as in ZoneImprovement Plan, ow known as ZIP Code) Van. There is much history on these vehicles, ust google studebaker zip van and you'll find plenty offascinating (no, eally!!!) information and history.
As it pertains to this van in particular, his is a rare bird. There were less then 4300 ofthese made in 1963 and there were no more. By the time thesemail vans were put out to pasture, o one in the 1970's or late 1960'scould have imagined how popular a one seat, HD vehicle would be in 2016 and many of themwentthe way of the scrap yard. Studebaker won the contract to build these for the USPS and it was hoped that this would be the contract that wouldput Studebaker back on course, ut it was not to be. This unit has what appears to be the original 6cylinder112 hp overhead valve Skybolt Six, he Borg-Warner Flight-O-Matic 3 speed automatic transmission. Itstarts right up and runs great. It drives fine also. Transmission shifts fine but leaks a little tranny fluid so if it sits for too long, ou will need to add some. There is a aninspection panel just to the left of the drivers seat and the fill tube for the transmission is easily accessible. I will warn you...DO NOT take a hard lefthand turn with the RHD drivers side door open. It almostthrew me out of the van!!
This van has rust. Fortunately, very panel on the van is a straight one and a good metal person could have this thing straightened up in a jiffy. Ibroke my own rules and fell in love with it andcouldn't walk away from it without it being on my trailer. You may have seen pics of this with some green stalk and yellow flowers on the side. I sanded those off and came to realize this is beyond my limits and I have several other carsthat I need to liquidate andthis wouldsit on the back burner forway too long, o I am offering it up to theeBay Community.
It has one new tire and three good tires. All the same size but not matching. This has a clear and open signed Indiana title.
If you have any questions or would like to have a friend look at it or do aFaceTime walk around/drive around, ive
me a call. Murray 270 872 7507. I am on Eastern time.
This is a five dayauction so you don't have to wait forever to win the van. Set your alarms for Sunday evening and be
ready to bid to buy.
I have taken numerous pics and havesuper sized them all. I have also included a pic or what one looks like totally
restored.
This is a must have for any postalcollector or Studebakercollector. There are very few of these around and could
easily be made into a rat rod (shoehorn in a sbc?), rive as is or restore toformer glory. Just wear your seatbelt!!!
SHIPPING: I will ship this to you up to 500 miles for $1.25 per loaded mile as I have the trailercapacity to do so.
