Description

1984 Pontiac Trans AmRare 5. 0 HO car with a 5 speed manual and 3. 73 rearTrue survivor car with 71. 00 original milesNO RESERVE!!!!!Up for auction is a real survivor 1984 Pontiac Trans Am with the rare 5. 0 HO option. There are a lot of people who like to call their car survivors but they have had the motor rebuilt or the car has been repainted. That is not a survivor. This car is a survivor. This car was a one owner car until about a month ago. The original owner sadly passed away recently and the car was purchased by a friend of his. I just purchased this car from the second owner who only owned it for about a month. The original owner at the age of 42 walked into Slate Belt Pontiac. Buick. GMC back in 1984 and special ordered this car to his liking and boy did he know how to order a car. This one is nicely equipped with many luxury and performance items which will be described below. This car was only used in the summer to commute back and forth to the Jersey shore. This car has never been out in the winter months so it is as clean as you will find for a 31 year old F-Body. This car recently came out of a 10 year storage and was freshened up and is ready to cruise or show. The body of this car is amazing. No rust anywhere and as hard as I looked I can't even find a door ding. This car was never hit and shows no signs of damage anywhere. There are a few small chips near the hood scoop and a few spots where a piece of the decal came off. The paint is original throughout and shines like it should. The bottom of this car is as clean as the top. It does have light surface rust on the normal parts(rear. control arms. sway bars etc. ) Nothing has been painted or doctored up. It is all original. This car was undercoated when new by the dealer and also has dealer installed mud flaps and body side molding. The interior of this car is as close to new a you will see. It was a non smoker since new and it shows. The seats. Carpet. Headliner. Dash are all in amazing shape. All of the gauges function as they should. As well optioned as this car is the original owner ordered the car with manual windows and locks. The stereo works and still sounds great. The T-tops don't even rattle like most of them. The car does have its original floor mats. The drivers side one does show some wear. This car has one option I have never seen before. It is equipped with a driver side knee pad attached to the console(see pic). At first I thought this was added on by the original owner but it is listed on the original window sticker as an option. Overall the interior is exceptional and as nice as you will find in an original or restored one. The 5. 0 HO fires right up with a couple of pumps of the throttle. It goes to high idle as it should and kicks down properly once warmed up. There are no noises. Taps. Knocks or smoke from this one. Under the hood appears to be original except for the heater hoses and radiator hoses. Even the original spark plug wires are present. This car is all original under the hood except for normal maintenance items(battery. hoses. belts etc. ). This car was undercoated by the dealer at a cost of $189 dollars. This also included a cosmoline like coating under the hood which makes it look dirty. It could be removed but I wouldn't because it is original to the car. The transmission shifts like new and is very quiet. The clutch still grabs great and the 3. 73 posi rear works like it should. This car runs and drives like it was when new and yes the Rochester Q-Jet carb screams when you floor it. This is one of the nicest driving 3rd gen cars I have ever had the pleasure of driving. The suspension on this car is very tight with no noises or clunks while driving. The brakes are four wheel disc and stop nice and straight with no pulsing. The exhaust sounds great and is in nice shape and looks to be original. The wheels are in great shape with no curb rash and still have a great shine to them. The tires have plenty of tread on them and are not cracked but they are old. They might be slightly flat spotted but the more I drive them the better they feel. Overall it is a smooth. quiet ride. The lights and blinkers all function as they should. The AC is complete on the car but it does not blow cold. It should work properly with a conversion to R134 but I don't have the equipment to do it properly. I don't just want to throw some in and hope it works and end up damaging the compressor. This car was recently serviced when it came out of storage. It had an oil change. All fluids checked. New sway bar links and new hood and trunk supports installed. It was also PA inspected and passed with flying colors. This car also comes with all of its original paperwork including a two page window sticker. Sales agreement and all of its brochures and owners manuals. There is no arguing what this car is with this kind of paperwork. The only known problems with this car is the drivers door window guide(the black triangle at the front of the door/glass) is cracked and should be replaced. The window rolls up and down fine but it does need a little help to keep it under the t-top seal. They are here on Ebay for about $40 dollars. The AC blows warm and the only other thing I noticed is the heat/ac does not always switch from defrost to the vents. Some times it works but it is slow changing and other times it just comes out of the defrost. It is probably a cracked vacuum line for the blend door. If you are looking to add a hard to find and original 3rd gen to your collection please consider this one. This is a 31 year old car that is in amazing shape and you would be hard pressed to find a cleaner original. They only made these 5. 0 HO cars for half of 1983 and all of 1984. There were not a lot made and very few survived like this one. This car would fair very well in any survivor class. With first and second gen Trans Am prices going through the roof these are next in line to increase rapidly. A car in this shape with this kind of documentation is an investment and can only go up in value. Stocks are great to put your money in but you can't enjoy them like you can when driving a car of this quality and quality cars always go up in value. If you have any questions or would like any other photos please don't hesitate to email me through Ebay or call me at 610-442-2503. Let your money buy you happiness!!! Thanks for looking and good luck.
