Description

I am in the process of selling off some KTM' I have collected over the years. This is one that I believe to be a 1979 KTM 420 (if you know differently please let me know). The bike has been in storage for the last 3 years. The individual I purchased it from said that it ran at some point. I have not attempted to start it so for the purpose of this auction lets assume the motor will need to be rebuilt. The motor has compression and turns over. I did notice a wire or two hanging down from under the tank which I think may have been for the kill switch. If you are a KTM fan you know how difficult it is to find the 420's in decent shape. It is probably one of the most popular KTM's next to the 1981 KTM495. The is a good core bike to start with. I do have a 2nd complete KTM 420 that I will be listing but its not as nice as this one. I am open to a two part payment if that will help you. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

I will go into some detail about the bike below.

  • Frame # - I can not find a number stamped on the frame neck
  • Motor # - 9 - 5600165

  • Body - plastic seems to be all new except for the tank which is painted (decent paint work). I don't believe this a 1979 tank. Looks like a 1980-81 tank.Frame has also been painted and seems to be close to the original color. The Left peg is missing. I think the seat is original and there is a small tear on the side.
  • Wheels - Sun rims look pretty good and are stamped - 3 /79. I worked on a few spokes and they should clean up nicely. New tires.
  • Exhaust - Pipe has had repairs and the silencer is missing.
  • Shock are new (progressive's)

SHIPPING: costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I don't mind holding the bike for a while once it is paid for. I realize it takes time to make shipping arrangements and I want to make this a stress free experience for the buyer. I do have a pretty good list of shippers I would be happy to pass on to you.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS- I have several Over sea'sShipping services that I can refer you to that will crate and ship tocountries likeAustralia, ew Zealand, K as well asother country's in Europe if you require those services.

PAYMENT:Deposit is nonrefundable.Balance payment is due within 7 days of the auction ending. I will accept the balance of payment in the following ways-Bank transfer, ash in person, ank of America cashiers checkorUSPS money orders.
