Description

Up for sale is my 1976 Yamaha RD400. It shows 79,700 miles on the odometer? When I bought it in 2008 I questioned the mileage. The guy I bought it from got it at an auction, he original owner donated to Easter Seals and they sold it at auction. I personally do not think the mileage is accurate based on its condition, lease see the description below. Obviously I could have bought a different speedometer with more reasonable mileage and installed it but the ridiculously high mileage has always been an interesting point of discussion when I take it to the local bike nights so I left it alone.

The bike is all original except for a few minor items and the seat. The tank paint is original, range peel and all, s are the multi piece decals on it. The decals do have a few “cracks” in them, lease see the pictures. There are no dents in the tank and only a few minor scratches and very small chips, he tank is in very nice condition inside and out. The head light bucket, ide covers and side cover decals are also original and have not been repainted, hey are in excellent shape. The right hand side cover paint does show a very slight sun fade on the top side, t is very hard to see but I know it’s there so I have to list it. The seat/foam is from HVC Cycle, installed original the metal trim on the seat.

I replaced a few oil seals, he points, arb boots, xhaust joints, lugs, ir filter, ulbs, andle bar dampers, ebuilt the carbs, nstalled tapered steering bearings and rebuilt the petcock. I’m sure there are some other small items I am forgetting, have receipts for everything. Back in 2011 I installed 2nd over Wiseco pistons/rings, ew wrist pins and clips just to freshen it up. The cylinders were bored and honed properly. The bike runs and shifts as it should and is very enjoyable to ride. It is the best running 2 stroke I own. The chrome is all original and in very good shape, ust light scratches. The pipes have no dents or rash on them, ust your typical light scratches,no battery acid stains on either pipe. The rims are in very good shape. All of controls, ights and the horn work. It has two correct Yamaha mirrors on it. It is a numbers matching bike, ngine and frame.

It is a very nice bike that really doesn’t need anything. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to come and take a look at it. I have it at my shop, can start it so you can hear it run if you are close enough to stop in. 414-520-5460 Call or text. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
