1977 RD400 numbers matching project bike with a clear Texas title in my name. The bottom end on this bike started to make noise about three years ago so I stopped riding it. Prior to that I had put a great deal of time and money to get it like I wanted. Since it has been sitting for three years I realize that it needs to move on. This bike requires a complete engine rebuild but the rest of the bike is in very good condition so if you already have a spare motor this would be a super easy project. About my bikeā¦ Body and seat: The tank is beautiful inside and out, he original paint is still very nice on it and side panels. The petcock was replaced but now looking a little old. A quick disconnect was installed on the front crossover fuel line so the tank can be removed without draining the gas. The seat (cover, an, oam was new) cover but got a tear in it that was repaired, ee photo, nd still very nice. The engine, efore I heard the knocking sound had new wisco pistons and rings. The top end may have about 500 miles on it and should still be good. It has DG replica gold heads. KN filter and manifold conversion. The oil pump was removed, was premixing the fuel. The kickstand is an aftermarket stand that makes the bike stand more upright, he stock sidestand cause too much lean for my comfort.
The Bridgestone Battle axe tires only have around 500 miles on them and should still have lots of life left in them. The master cylinders (front and rear) were replaced with Magura and worked great. Since it has been sitting the rear brake is dragging so the rear brake probably needs rebuilding. The brake lines were replaced with braded lines. New brake pads installed up front. The rims are beautiful. The frame was repainted and very nice. Front forks, rogressive springs installed and progressive rear shocks, ome rust starting to show on shock springs. Front and rear fender chrome not perfect but still nice. New DG exhaust, ut since it has been stored are starting to rust, hould be refinished but good. Electrical all worked when the bike was running, ill require a new battery. If you have ever restored a bike you can see how far ahead of the game you would be if you started with this build. The reserve amount is worth it for the tank, ody panels wheels, G head and seat alone. Please ask questions, he bike is sold as is there are no warrantees implied or expressed. Thank you for looking and happy bidding.
