This is what is fact: 2005 Acura NSX-T in Rio Yellow over Yellow (1 of 6). The last 6 of VIN are 000241. Per Acura's own production records on this very site, there were only 240 reported manufactured for US market. This is a one owner vehicle, originally purchased from Valley Acura in Spokane, Washington USA. It has 11,002 documented miles. It has a clean title history and no accidents or paint work. It has been stored in a garage in N Spokane since 2007. The car is original, and unmodified with the exception of an updated audio head unit, speakers and a Passport radar system. The original carpets were yellow as well but owner had them removed and replaced with black, but I have all original carpets and mats as well. It is in mint condition inside and out. Paint is flawless, and never any accidents or bodywork. Mechanically it is a 10 as well. I put new tires on it, but kept the originals. The timing belt has not been replaced. I have the vehicle in my possession, along with title, and have been asked to find it a new home by original owner. (who does not want to deal with sale) The original dealership that sold the car has since been sold to AutoNation, but there is 1 person left working there who remembers the car, in fact he was the GM at the time and personally dealt with Acura USA to procure this vehicle. He relayed the story of how it came to be in Spokane WA to me.
This is where the facts end, and the real "story" begins. The dealer principal of Valley Acura was a NSX fan, and had a 1991 model I believe. He expressed an interest in obtaining a 2005 and set his sales manager at the time out to find one. He must have been late to the game because a phone call to Acura USA was met with the response that there were NO available 2005 NSXs available. So, the sales manager set out to find one at another dealer. He found one in NJ that was actually purchased, driven around the block and put back up for resale at a premium. This vehicle was secured and arrangements were made for shipping to WA. As luck would have it, Acura called the sales manager back and said that they had reluctantly decided to part with #241 because of the relationship with the dealer principal. There were some caveats to the deal, such as the dealer principal could not just take car and sell it, he could not mark-up price, and he could not claim it was the last NSX. Well, he did all the above anyway. This is where Jay Leno comes into the picture. Apparently he was looking to pick up a 2005 NSX, preferably one of if not the last one. His handlers contacted the dealer and a conversation was started. Leno?s people balked at the markup and as the conversation soured, the current owner came into the store. Additionally, Acura supposedly told the sales manager that this was not manufactured for sale, it was instead meant for a museum display.
Of course there is no proof of any of the story that I have not labeled as fact. BUT, there is enough evidence (most contained on NSXprime) that would make it more of a challenge to disprove that this is perhaps the last US spec, manual transmission 2005 NSX made, and that it was not intended for retail sale.
Regardless, this is a collector grade vehicle and a rare opportunity for the right buyer. I am happy to answer specific questions about the car so please ask.
