RELISTING THIS PROJECT - Starting bid has been dropped by $1,000 to $12,500, ith no reserve.
This can be an attractive project, s its most urgent needs in bodywork are partly-addressed by the included panels, hich will save hours in metalwork costs; these panels just need to welded on and the rockers are good as new. The interior floors are quite workable, ith parts not needing any work at all, nd the trunk floor is rather solid as well. The rear end (and rear brakes) has already been completed, nd just needs bolting on. Restoring a car to completion is quite a bit of work, s I've experienced myself, nd it helps to first obtain an inexpensive project car, long with a few things included to help it along, hich is the case here. If this project doesn't sell at this price, 'll moth-ball it for better times in the future.
----------------------------------------------ORIGINAL POST:
To auction is a 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider project, t NO RESERVE. This car is originally white with red interior from the factory. This is the first year of the long chassis (Type 101), ith the one-year-only small Altissimo taillights (not the large ovoid ones of later cars).
The car needs metal work - the nose is slightly damaged, nd all rockers need to be replaced. The aft floor boards need replacing as well, hile the fronts may just be surface rust. The trunk floor is quite good, nd no repairs appear necessary. Both hood and trunk lids are also in good condition, ith one small area that needs minor rust repair. The car was partially media-blasted to help bring forth the problem areas. Included in the sale is a set of reproduced structural pieces for rocker replacement - these were reproduced here in the U.S. (see included photos), nd should save quite a bit of repair time (value of $500+).
Mechanically, here are some missing items as the car no longer has its original engine; it does however come with a “blank”-blocked 1,300-cc engine, split-case transmission, long with requisite supports, rive-shafts, tc. I had the rear end (including rear brakes) refurbished by Alfa Parts Exchange a year or so ago, nd it’s ready to install. The front brakes are apart. Brake tubes are incomplete, ut may be sourced from UK’s AlfaStop. Gas tank is in okay shape. Four Fergat wheels in decent condition.
The car has its top mechanism, s well as a set of proper dash gauges plus other interior accessories - these either need restoring or replacing. Bumpers are presently incomplete, ut I can probably source the missing pieces. Included is a set of brand new headlight rings and the center grille (both from Classic Alfa in the UK). No eyebrows or grille bars (these may be purchased new at reasonable cost). Rocker trim spears are present. Windshield assembly is included, ith all four frame pieces and an old piece of glass. Vent window frames were re-chromed a year ago. All door glass are present, long with original interior upholstery panels/cards for re-trimming. Both seats are present; seat tracks are incomplete. The steering wheel is missing a chunk of bakelite, s well as the white horn ring (reproductions available).
Not all included items are shown in the photos, o please contact me for answers. I can provide more photos when contacted.
The car is located in Morgan Hill, A, nd is currently not titled. The wooden dolly on which the chassis sit IS included in the sale.
