1963 Chevrolet Suburban

1963 Chevy Carryall (Suburban)

I bought this truck in California almost 20 years ago. Still has CA title. I built it for me, o I didn’t strive for perfection, ut for good and solid, nd dependable. It still need finishing but much has been done.

The truck was very straight and solid to start with. There is no metal patching to the quarters at all. No metal patching in front fenders. They are from a 64, nd there is slight misalignment in the drivers side fender-to-door line, ut no patching. I left the emblem holes as they were for the 64, o you can use 64 emblems, r drill another hole and use 63 emblems. (the unused hole will be covered by the emblem). I patched in new rocker panels. The metal footboard for back seat area had surface rust, no rust through but some deterioration and weakening) so I added a few layers of fiberglass on it. The lift gate has both sides strut supports…”borrowed” from my other truck. These are HARD to Find!

The inside is painted- not perfect. The roof pieces still need install. I painted the underside of the roof with POR-15, ut have not been able to find the roof panel material to glue in before the trim goes back up. I had all new smoke tint side glass cut for the quarters, nd installed with new rubber. The rubber for front quarter glass was botched, utting the cuts at wrong places, o needs redone at some point. The back quarter glass pieces are nicely installed. Steele has the rubber for about $200 (2 sides). Door glass is original, o tint.

Has new front bumper. Back bumper is a long story. Its out for chrome in Fresno CA. The bill will be about $500 plus shipping. Instead of me delaying the auction, r the shipping, f you want the bumper, ou can buy it by paying the bill from the chrome shop, nd ship to you.

The engine is a fresh 283 with 4bbl setup. I have a dash gauge set with actual gages, ot idiot lights, ut it needs to be wired up and installed. There is no exhaust system on the truck. Fuel tank was cleaned and coated. Has original 3-on-the-tree shifter. (Was originally a 6 cylinder) Wheels are old but presentable. Tires are old and getting crackly.

I have a set of original front seal frames and one back seat. All need repaint and recover.
