I have added around 4,000.
When not driven onbeautiful California days,it is in my locked California Garage as per my Insurance Company's instructions.
CurrentInsurance ReplacementValuation is now $25,000.
My History with this car, and the work I have done on it is extensively documented on the ALFABulletin Board Forum(AlfaBB).
I am Keyspider, and I encourage you to join, and/or look me up and read my threads. In particular "My Blue Spider" and "1974 Spider Interior Restoration", where you will find more details and photos than I can post here.
Reason for sale.... I have another '74 Spider that is demanding my attention and I need the garage space!
FYI, don't ask what the reserve is... It is fair, and you will see when it is reached!
Car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this listing at any time.
Driving Impressions:
The car looks great in person, and the paint glows in the sunlight. The color is quite rare, and with the new burgundyinterior, it really stands out from the "Red with Black" normale.
I recently drove into a Newport Beach Hotel to meet someone, and the Valet asked me to "Leave it up Front", with theFerrari'sandBentley's! They then gathered around complementing and asking questions.Everywhere I drive it I get complementary comments, looks, honks, and thumbs up's.
It drives very well. The clutch and gearbox are a delight, and the unassisted steering lightens quickly as speed increases, but has feel. The Engine is smooth, and Powerful in its upgraded condition, and delightfully "Alfa" sounding.Engine idles smoothly, and will pull on full throttle from 1000rpm in 5th to illegal speeds.. I got a ticket to prove it years back.No pinging, or complaining. Oil pressure shows 20+ psi hot, at idle, and 50+psi at speed. It has never overheated on me, even in 100deg temps, and is easy to drive in heavy traffic. The Magnaflow exhaust is vibrant on hardacceleration, but mellows out on cruise. The car has no problem driving in, or keeping up with traffic. 70mph on the Freeway is smooth, and easy in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear. Brakes are firm, and strong, but easy to modulate. Handling and ride are great, with grip and minimal roll.
Friendswho have driven or been driven in it have said it is in "Rude Health", and have been impressed
History, Condition, Modifications and Upgrades.
From the paperwork I have, previous owner bought the car in 1995, with 59,500 miles.
I believe it was fully restored in the early 90’s.
Paint is single stage DuPont CentariLacquer, so it has the original vibe and not "Plastic Looking".
The paint is about 25 years old now, and whilst the vast majority of it is smooth and nice, it has some chips, scratches, and minor issues, which, where needed, have been touched up with matching paint.
It is a driver's car, not a show car, but I have shown it and felt proud.
No rust issues that I can see.Floors were repaired during the original resto, and look to be done to a high standard. The rockers look original with OEM spot welds visible.
Dash has a dash cap fitted and then, a dash mat on top.
Experts have stated, that given the age of the restoration, any issues would have reappeared by now.
Underside of the car is clean and very, very tidy.
Engine and Drivetrain:
2 litre Twin Cam SPICAmechanicallyinjected.
Upgraded Cams. 105480320051, these have 11.1mm lift according to the spec.
Upgraded High Compression 10.1 Motronic pistons.
Crane Fireball XR3000 Contactless Ignition system, replacing points($250).
I estimate thatthecar is producing about 150hp now, which is 30+ more than stock.
Clutch is strong and smooth.
Transmission is a 5 speed.AbsolutelyNO 2nd gear issues,regardlesshow fast you shift.
Receipts provided for major systems within the last 8,000 miles include:
Rebuilttransmission, including bearings and Syncro’s by Omega Motorsports($1100).

Spare tire is new, and never used, and comes on the original but restored Magnesium Turbina wheel.
I will include a set of 4 OEM Turbina's if you want them.
Exhaust system was custom built at Magnaflow, and this actual car was chosen, and used for the prototyping of Alfa SS complete systems. The car was later returned to them for dyno testing, and fitting of a production system. This system is sold for about $700.
Windshield washer system replaced with electric system, with push button on center console.
Fan and fan shroud replaced.
Upgraded front and rear sway bars, are Skankle Race items.
Front is AL4724, and Rear is AL4728, and both are fitted with polyurethane bushes.
There is a slight oil leak from rear of the engine, not unusual, and I think she is just marking her territory!
As stated the paint is 25 years old, and whilst it looks great from 5', they are chips, scratches, minor dings, and blemishes. They were difficult to photograph, without becoming myopic. I feel it is a driver, and so was less important to me. The paint color was professionally matched and each chip, or scratch, etc, was touched up. I suggest you view the car so you can see yourself.
Windshield is good, but does have a few small chips and some light wiper marks, that I am told will polish out.
Side glasses are good and manual windows are quick and smooth, as the regulators are newer.
Top is older, rear window is pretty clear, but has small split behind driver.
I have either driven the car open, or with the S4 Hardtop, which will be listedseparately. If you are the winning Bidder, and want the Hard Top/Hardtop Stand, I willnegotiatea "Package Deal". See my other items for the top or:
