Description

This 1963 Rambler American 220 2-door wagon is just about ready for the road. All of the heavy lifting has already been done. Following is the list of equipment/changes/upgrades to the vehicle: A clear Texas title. no structural rust only surface patina. perfect glass. perfect lights/lenses/trim & badging. and the complete engine/5-speed tranny/driveshaft/rear end from a mid ‘80s Ford Ranger pickup. Professionally installed Heidt’s mustang II IFS hub-to-hub with disc brakes and custom inner wheel well metal workNew Griffin aluminum radiatorNew custom Rock Valley Antique Auto Parts SS gas tank and sender with a new NOS tank connection hose and gas cap. Speedway Motors bucket seats. emergency brake lever. Ididit tilt column. custom steering wheel. SS steering shafts and u-joints. Kwik Wire wiring harness and Speedway ’50 Pontiac LED taillights installed. New Foose “Legend Chrome” 18x8 w 4. 5” back spacing wheels on a 4. 75” Chevy bolt pattern and BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp2 tires on the four corners. Rear axle has been completely overhauled with new brakes. bearings and seals and the driveshaft has new u-joints. Ford 2. 3L engine has all Esslinger Racing components installed: Keith Black pistons. SBC forged connecting rods. mid-range cam/lifters/springs. header and exhaust system. twin Weber IDF44s with air cleaners and downdraft intake. custom distributor with electronic conversion. custom carb linkage. nbsp; adjustable cam timing gear. new belts and tensioner. new P/S pump and SS braid hoses. New brake master cylinder. clutch master cylinder. SS braided hoses and all new brake lines and fittingsProfessionally crafted floor and trans tunnel metal work to accommodate the new drive train. Issues that will still need to be addressed; The weber carbs are tricky and complicated and I have yet to get them to settle down – loading up and idle issues. You’ll need to either change them out for a different intakes system or find a good Weber carb tech. The wiring is new. but has ground issues. I’m not a wiring guy and while most of it is good you’ll need to take a weekend and go through it adding grounds and the ballasts for the rear LED taillights. I removed the steering column to use it for a test fit in my new ’29 Ford pickup project and the wires pulled out from the column connector and need to be re-soldered. There is minor hail damage. but most of it is tapped back out and not very noticeable. Had it at a swap meet last weekend and nobody noticed it. The body is ready for a skim coat and block sanding of simply scuff and seal the existing patina.
