Description

This car was built to be a great daily driver and track car. Engine built by Brian Moody and Chris Jaeger, oth racing professionals and with experience with Audi engines. Brian won the 2005 Pikes Peak Hill Climb Open Class and is an experienced engine builder. The engine management is now done by a Haltech Platinum Sport 1000 unit and is fully programmable. It has controlled O2 control and closed loop boost control. It is currently setup to run 15psi on pump gas. It can run up to 24psi on race gas. The car comes with a computer dedicated for tuning. It has an Innovate Motorsports LC-2 Digital wideband controller kit with gauge in the center stack. There are also EGT and boost gauges on the A Pillar. The turbo is a Borg Warner KKK26/27 hybrid with RS2 center section. It is a very powerful and reliable turbo capable of making 28psi on this engine configuration. The turbo was built by Durabilt turbo in Bradley IL.

The head is fully ported and polished from a 1997 AEB code engine with the larger ports complete with Eurospec cams, errera Titanium oversized valves. The block is from a 2001 and is complete with JE Forged Pistons with 9.0:1 CR 83mm bore x 90mm stroke, 008CC. Crankshaft is a Eurospec 058 type Forged crank P# (EFC 105 101B), ith the old style short nose and trigger wheel made from 4340 Forged steel. The engine has approx 15k miles on it and the last oil sample sent for analysis came back clean for wear metals and fuel. The car has been mostly run as a 15psi car on pump gas with an occasional track day. Compression checks come out within 10psi highest to lowest and leakdown tests are under 2%. The engine was built with larger ring clearances to ensure no ring chatter which means the oil must be changed more often than any standard street car. It has always been oiled with AMSOIL 5-40 Euro-spec oil and changed every 2-3kmiles. Air delivery is handled by a large aluminum FMIC with a Tial blow off valve post intercooler.

The transmission and driveline are upgraded to the Audi 90 transmission with torsen differential which changes the final drive to 4.11:1. To match the gearing the rear end was swapped with a 2001 S4 rear end. The flywheel is a lightened aluminum single piece unit with a 6 puck feramic from Unorthodox racing, # 2R146. Wheels are Lightweight SSR comp 17” which only weigh 15lb. The tires are Dunlop Direzzas Star Spec 235/24/17 which are nearly new.

The suspension has been upgraded to Koni sport lowering springs and dampers which are not harsh for street use but work well on the track. The front and rear sway bars are larger diameter, he front is the Neuspeed 25mm and 19mm rear. The brakes are Stoptech 332mm 4 piston calipers up front with stock diameter and parts in the rear. The stopping power is incredible and pedal modulation is easy. There is a ¼” thick alumimum belly pan which covers all of the engine components from any potential damage.

The exhaust is fully custom built 3” from downpipe through a racing cat and to dual mufflers.

The car has factory paint and factory body parts. The front bumper has some damage from a Euro plate mount that was improperly mounted for a short time. The bumper cover has been removed from the frame by reversing over a parking curb. The front bumper is currently held on by some zip ties and should be replaced however I have not done it. The paint work is in overall good shape for the age but is in no ways perfect. There is lots of life left in this car and it rewards good and aggressive driving. There are over $15k in just engine parts and work. This car is excellent for the Audi enthusiast or somebody who wants the pure Quattro grip and turbo goodness! I am happy to chat about the history and general info on the car as it has been my joy for a long time.
