The S6 is stoked by Audi's first-ever V-10 engine, normally aspirated (non-turbo, on-supercharged) 5.2-liter with direct gasoline injection. It combines the generous torque characteristics of a high cylinder count with the high-rev output of a 7,000-rpm redline, elivering 398 pounds-feet of torque at 3,000-4,000 rpm (with 90 percent on tap at 2,300 rpm) and 435 horsepower at 6,800 rpm. Audi cites a 0-60 mph time of 5.1 seconds, quarter-mile time of 13.4 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph. The S6's Quattro all-wheel-drive system sends 60 percent of the torque to the rear wheels as a default, nd up to 85 percent when called upon. The previous generation split the torque 50/50, ront/rear. The change gives the Audis equipped with the new Quattro dynamics closer to those of a rear-wheel-drive car. Compared to the A6, he S6 suspension is firmed up for optimized handling. Upgraded brakes employ larger discs and gloss-black calipers emblazoned, n the front pair, ith the S6 logo.
