2008 Audi R8 4.2L V8
NO RESERVE AUCTION!!
Up for bid is a 2008 Audi R8 4.2L V8 R-Tronic with the Quattro AWD system. This R8 is sporting a Phantom Black Pearl paint job with matching black wheels, painted blades, and Audi factory red calipers which is a very sharp looking combination. This super car has a lot of positives but does need some TLC. The R8 was purchased new in 2008 for $129,050 and is loaded with factory upgrades which include:
- Phantom Black Pearl Effect ($650)
- Premium Package ($3,500)
o Audi Parking System Advanced
o 6 Disk CD Player
o Audi Hill Hold Assist
o Homelink
o Bluetooth
o Auto Dimming Exterior Mirror
o Storage Package
- Audi Navigation System Plus ($2,000)
- Bang & Olufsen Sound System ($1,800)
The R8 currently sits with 30,000 actual miles and runs strong. Please clink on the YouTube video links below to see for yourself. You will notice that it has some warning lights activated but the good news is that there is no Check Engine Light (CEL) on at all. Oil appears to just have recently been changed and all fluids are good except for the coolant as that leaks out once filled.

I don't know much history about the R8 except for all of the regular maintenance that was recorded on the Carfax report which details that itwas religiously performed at an Audi dealership in Beverley Hills, CA. This R8 was just purchased at an Auction on 7/15/16 along with a recently purchased 2010 Audi Q7 TDI Diesel that came from the same auction. I found out that the Q7 qualifies for the Audi Care lawsuit so I am going to move forward with repairing that and I am going to keep that for my wife to drive. I planned on selling one of the vehicles because I am currently starting another business and my wife is having a baby in less than a month. With the Q7 having a clean title and monetary compensation, it makes so much more sense to keep the Q7 right now so that is why the R8 is being sold. The Carfax states “possible total loss” so I have been told that there is the option of pursing to get the title switched back to a clean and clear title by contesting the current status with the state of California.
Here is a detailed description on the TLC this beast needs. Please note that I am not a mechanic or nor do I have the capabilities of giving anyone an accurate repair estimate so I recommend having an inspector come check it out. I will gladly show it to anyone that is interested in looking at it in person, and they can also take it for a test drive at that time. The vehicle runs and drives but I believe the driver’s side rear wheel is bent so it is not safe for driving long distances. I would consider the vehicle as a “lot drives” status. For this reason, I have not been able to get it on a lift to check out and the list below will reflect what I noticed looking at in my driveway once it was delivered. THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS-IS AND IT IS THE BUYERSRESPONSIBILITYTO HAVE SOMEONE INSPECT IT PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
This R8 has miscellaneous issues so please view all of the pictures in detail showing these areas. They include:
- Driver’s side mirror is broken and missing a plastic piece.
- Missing driver’s door handle cover (works) and side skirt top cover.
- Drivers side taillight cover broken (light works).
- Third taillight cover broken (light works).
- Rear glass molding needs to be installed correctly along with windshield (windshield has small crack).
- Driver’s side air duct plastic broken next to rear window.
- Paint chipped above passenger door.
- Several small interior pieces missing, broken, or not seated properly (see pics).
- Rear view mirror and interior light housing missing.
- Front luggage compartment does not open with the remote button (no way of inspecting what the condition of the front end is but it appears good).
- Front headlights do not work because I think they are unplugged for some reason.
I am not familiar with R8’s at all so please see the pictures and videos for the instrument cluster warnings that are present for a more accurate diagnoses of the vehicle’s problems. Again, this vehicle is sold AS-IS and I am representing it the best I can. This is a perfect project for someone who is looking to fix it up and then flip it to make some serious money because it seems most of the repairs are easy and used parts are readily available.
When comparing fair market value for other 2008 R8’s, it seems that comparable ones with the same mileage or higher sell for $75,000 - $85,000 with a clean title. Using the 20% deduction rule for a marked title, that would leave a perfect operating salvage R8 worth around $64,000. With my buy it now price at just $52,900, I fell there is plenty of meat on the bone for whoever buys it.
Feel free to ask any questions and please review my 100% positive feedback. Don’t let this amazing super car slip by at a huge discounted price! Thanks for looking!
