Selling a 2006 BMW 750i. southern car with no exposure to rough winters. exterior is nice. only a small dent by the gas door and a small scrape on front bumper. Since this car has no door moulding. there are a few door scrapes that have paint from the other vehicles on them that can be removed. but nothing serious. Car has clear title. title on hand. This vehicle is for a BMW technician or knowledgeable DIYer. not for other BMW owners. Car is in limp mode from an electrical issue and I cannot get a local mechanic to troubleshoot it for me. see symptoms below. I purchased this car locally over a year ago from a seller that bought it CPO in 2011. so it has not have too many owners. It had a few engine oil leaks when I got it. so my mechanic fixed the dreaded alternator bracket seal and a seal around the front of one of the upper engine plates and it has not leaked since. I sprayed the underside of the car with Simple Green and water and this might have contributed to the electrical issue. A few months ago. I had a slight delay in engaging D from Park. so I decided to do the 25 second transmission reset. I then began getting some transmission faults that I would recover from by turning off the car and back on. To be proactive. I had my mechanic change the transmission filter and fluid. but I still got a few transmission faults after this and a BMW Assist warning. I also again cleaned up my mechanic's mess under the car by spraying with Simple Green and water. I used the car for a few months with a few transmission faults until the car went into limp mode this week and I cannot reset it. I tried using INPA and I can activate the shift lock and other transmission features. but the car goes into limp mode even before I fire up the engine. so I am sure the problem is electrical in nature. I suspect that the underside washing I did might have affected the ground cables under the car. So. yesterday I went to Auto Zone and had them troubleshoot the battery and alternator. They told me that they could not get a good reading from the battery from the terminals under the hood. so they tried to get a reading from the battery in the trunk directly and the battery was good and fully charged. I started the car for them and the alternator pumped 14-14. 25 volts. which should be good enough. The fact that the terminals under the hood did not read properly lead me to believe the ground cable from the battery under the car might have been effected by the washing I had done. Also. in these part of the country. the humidity is pretty thick. so it is not helping either. I also cannot get a mechanic around here that has the means to troubleshoot electrical problems and do any programming if needed. so for this reason. I am selling it. As you can see. I did all the expensive work already. all it needs is a little troubleshooting from a knowledgeable person and I am sure that with a few hours and less than a few hundred dollars. this car will once again be perfect. The car is in nice shape. it runs well and the transmission had been shifting well. It has bluetooth. navigation. CD. all heated seats. front ventilated seats. massage seat. CD. power trunk lid. soft close doors. The windows were tinted by the previous owner and it helps keep the car cool in the hot summer months. Tires have a lot of life left in them. I did an oil change in January. about 2 thousand miles ago. Last year. I replaced all air and cabin filters too. The car can get 30 mpg on level ground at a speed of about 70 mph. so it performs as it should. Runs tight. Car has only a few owners that have cared for this vehicle. Also note. the passenger air bag sensor is faulty (bag will still trigger normally in an accident whether a passenger in seated or not). this is to be covered in a new BMW recall. Please ask questions if you need more info. Thanks for looking.
