This car has spent its entire life in Los Angeles, alifornia and has never been driven in snow or on salted roads.
Maintenance history:
The engine oil and oil filters have been changed at the following mileages: 4,837, 890, 2,567, 8,029, 4,593, 6,386, 7,798, 4,113, 2,170, 9,964, 3,979, 5,550, 8,985, 2,089, 4,009, 6,258, 8,011 and 69,203. The engine oil is currently synthetic. Inspection I's were completed at 18,029, 4,113 and 58,985 miles. Inspection II's were completed at 42,170 and 69,203 miles. A new BMW radiator was installed at 50,997 miles. New Bilstein Sport shocks and struts, ew shock mounts and new bump stops were installed at 54,048 miles. In the last 3,000 miles, he following parts have all been replaced with new original BMW parts (except where noted): timing chain tensioner, econdary chain tensioner, alve cover and gasket, anos unit (by "Dr. Vanos"), xpansion tank, erpentine belt, rive belts and pulleys, ater pump (by Stewart), hermostat and thermostat housing, eft and right tie rod ends, eft and right rear trailing arm bushings, ear toe bushings, ear toe bushing spacers, otor mounts, ransmission mounts, eft and right front sway bar links, ear exhaust hanger, ront and rear brake rotors, rake pads and brake wear sensors. A new battery was just installed.
Interior condition:
The leather interior is in excellent shape and has been conditioned with Lexol regularly over the years. The driver’s seat (including the left bolster) shows only minimal wear and all stitching is still intact. There are no tears, oles or burns anywhere in the interior with the exception of a few small tears/holes in the bottom of the driver's side rubber door seal (from shoe contact). The steering wheel leather and stitching are in excellent condition and there is no sun damage to the steering wheel (the car has been kept under a carport its entire life). The carpets have no stains and the vehicle has always had factory Motorsport floor mats in place. The air conditioner condenser and receiver/dryer was replaced at 58,609 miles and both the heater and air conditioner function properly. The sunroof operates properly; opening, losing and tilt. The radio is original and functions perfectly but some of the radio station pre-set buttons have a little wear on their edges (and show the white plastic underneath the black). The shift lever is original to the car and has a small amount of leather wear around the shift-pattern emblem on the top of it. Thedashboard and all the interior vinyl/plastic is in excellent condition and has no cracks or sun damage and the glove box fit is excellent. The rechargeable BMW flashlight that comes in the glove box is there but the clear lens cover on the end broke off and is gone. The plastic surround trim for the driver’s inside door latch needs to be replaced. Both the left and right side interior door panels have been replaced with new BMWdoor panels (the driver's side in November 2010 and the passenger side in March 2015). In September 2015, black Alcantara headliner, and C pillars and rear parcel shelf were installed to remedy the sagging factory headliner (which are no longer available).
Exterior condition:
While the body (meaning the sheet-metal) is in good condition overall, y father had a few fender-benders. One resulted in the replacement of the right front fender (all other body panels are original and have their VIN tags). The fender is an original BMW DOT approved quarter panel. Unfortunately, he paint on that fender was not properly matched to the rest of the car and the body shop also re-painted the adjacent section of the hood in an effort to “blend” the repair, esulting in some mis-matched paint. It is not shockingly bad but it is definitely noticeable (see photos 3, and 5). There is a small dent where the right rear-view mirror made contact when it was knocked off once; it is just to the rear of where the mirror is attached and is hard to see unless you are looking for it (see last photo). There is one vertical straight crease on the left rear quarter panel from where a car door was opened into the vehicle but it is so slight you have to sight along the car to see it. The right side plastic rocker panel cover has a long scratch on it, hich was touched up but needs re-painting (second to last photo). There is overspray evident on the top edge of the black side-molding which is mounted between the rear of the driver's door and the front of the left rear wheel housing. I have all of the old body repair orders and while they are somewhat hard to read (they are hand-written) they will be included with all the other records. Overall, he paint is in good condition but the top surfaces suffer from some fading from the sun, which is typical for Dakar yellow. There are minor paint imperfections and light scratches present on every panel. There was a very small rust area forming in the lower edge of the trunk opening where water collects when the car is washed. That area was professionally repaired and repainted and a new trunk gasket seal was installed. The front bumper cover was recently replaced and is in excellent condition. Both fog lamps are in excellent condition and are functional. The rear bumper cover has some scratches and appears to have been lightly bumped on the extreme lower left corner but the bumper cover is still in proper alignment with the car. The rubber gaskets underneath both door handles (on the outside of the car) have cracks. The gaskets around the front windshield and rear window have been replaced, s has the hood cowl cover, ood shocks and lower rear side-window rubber trim. The headlamp covers are original and are still clear. The metal bracket which held the jack in place next to the spare wheel and tire broke but I have the jack. Thereare some black marks on one area of the felt liner inside the trunk from my bicycle's chain. All of the original tools that came with the car are present in their holder in thetrunk lid. None of the wheels (including the spare) have any curb rash on them but there are minor paint imperfections and a few paint chips.
Miscellaneous Concerns:
There is an occasional squeak from the back seat area when driving over bumps. The driver’s door window occasionally has a slight rattle when driving with the window fully closed. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport and were purchased in March 2011 at approximately 60,000 miles. Although there is plenty of tread left they are five years old and should be replaced soon. The tire on the spare wheel is the original spare tire delivered with the car and should only be used in an emergency.
Emissions testing/smog checks:
This car successfully passed the California emissions (smog) test every time it was required (which was every other year) until last year. I took it to a service facility which installed a new air mass sensor and oxygen sensor, e-tested it and failed again. I then took it to the car's regular mechanic who drove it himself to the smog check station and it passed with no repairs having been done. My mechanic informed me that the engine needs to be run hard to thoroughly heat up the catalytic converter right before doing the smog test. I make no representations as to the ability of this car to pass smog tests again in the future, ut to the best of my knowledge there is nothing wrong with any of the emissions components of this car.

I have described this car as accurately and as thoroughly as I can. The car is 21 years old. There may be some defects I have unintentionally overlooked or do not know about. I encourage and welcome a professional pre-purchase inspection, ut it must take place in Los Angeles, alifornia. The mileage listed was accurate at the time this description was written, ut will increase slightly if I drive the car or it is test-driven by potential buyers.
