The time has come to part with my fully sorted E30 M3. I own a car dealership in Nova Scotia. Canada and this has been my personal pet project over the last couple of years. I am a true BMW enthusiast and have a n E36 M3 race car. an E46 M3 vert . an E46 Comp Pack. a Formula BMW and an E90 M3 sitting in my garage. Last year. I purchased a Formula BMW racecar and now my time and financial resources are being directed that way (my son is racing one as well)… This US Spec car was produced in October of 1987 and lived the first few years of its life in Chelmsford. Massachusetts. It was imported into Canada in 1991 where it has remained since then. In 2006. the second owner (who imported the car into Canada) properly stored the car and after not using it for 6 years. decided to sell it. I purchased it from him in 2012. When I received the car. it was in good condition but needed some TLC. I decided not to pick away at it. but rather tackle it from the ground up. So the project began with the removal of the drivetrain. all underbody suspension components and interior. All of these items were fully completed in the past 6 months and the car has only about 2. 00 miles since then. Everything was properly broken in and all fluids changed (all redline) again after that. So here is how it all went: 1. The motor was removed. dismantled and all wear items were replaced:a. I wanted the motor to be fully refreshed and ready for another 150+ k miles… It was bored/honed for slightly larger pistons (remains 2. 3). hot tanked. fully checked out. etc. etc. b. New OEM BMW pistons. rods. rod bolts and all assembly components installed;c. ALL seals and gaskets were replaced with new OEM parts;d. Brand new BMW water pump;e. Brand new BMW oil pump;f. Brand new AC compressor;g. Brand new BMW timing chain/tensioners and any wear items in that system;h. Head serviced. valves properly adjusted. i. All belts brand new;j. VAC - ALL hoses replaced with SPARCO Sport hose kit;k. VAC – S14 Performance Oil Pan Baffle;l. VAC – S14 Performance Ignition Wire Set;m. New Ignition Cap and Rotor;n. New battery;o. New OEM Fuel Tank;p. New OEM Fuel Pump and Fuel Pump Assembly;q. Rebuilt Alternator;r. New OEM Starter;s. New Radiator. fan. etc. ;t. There’s probably more. Anything that was replaceable with new was replaced. u. VAC – E30 M3 Clutch and Flywheel Combo (CM FX1000 + JBR)v. VAC – E30 M3 Better than new Shift kit;w. New OEM Coolant expansion tank;x. New thermostat. and all sensors. y. All new filters (water. air. fuel. etc. )z. Turner performance Chip 2. Suspension/Brakes:a. All new OEM rotors and pads all around;b. Calipers checked. serviced;c. All new ABS Sensors;d. All new Brake Pad sensors;e. VAC – Goodridge G-Stop E30 M3 Stainless Steel Brakeline kit;f. VAC- Bilstein Tuned Suspension Kit;g. All underbodies items were removed. blasted. painted and replaced in that state or by new parts;h. VAC – E30 Complete Chassis Reinforcement Kit;i. VAC - All Powerflex bushings throughout i. Front Control arm set. offset #1; ii. Rear Sub frame bushing set # 4; iii. Inner and outer trailing arm #5 iv. Rear Diff bushing; v. All other bushings were Poly were available (engine. trans. etc. ) vi. Wherever poly not used. brand new OEM installed everywhere. j. VAC – Suspension Techniques Sway Bar Kit k. New OEM Sway Bar links. bushingsl. All new bearings and any/all underbody wear items. m. Diff serviced. new fluids. etc. n. New OEM muffler;o. Transmission new fluids. (car comes with a spare transmission. It has a slight driveline noise and everything was ruled out except transmission). Spare included and new owner can replace or not. Current transmission shifts perfectly. 3. Other:a. All leather was reconditioned. No rips/tears needed to be repaired but normal wear was present. Looks fantastic now!b. Blower motor squeaks. Brand new OEM Blower included;c. Cruise control was not working. Relay replaced and now working;d. Intermittent wipers were not working – repaired;e. Audio systems works as it should and have code (as well as original owners manuals)f. Sunroof works fine;g. Power windows work fine;h. All bulbs replaced. New fog lights. i. Two small rust spots were properly repaired: Rear driver side wheel well and driver front wheel well. No other areas needed attention. Car was fully undercoated/protected post repairs and before re-installing underbody parts. j. Paint on car was refreshed. It was still fine but flat surfaces were a touch faded. Paint is an 8 out of 10. I did not want to go to perfection on the paint because then I would not have wanted to drive the car. Don’t get me wrong. it looks fabulous but it is not perfect. All of the photos of the car on the hoist in the shop are PRE paintjob so you can se the car was already looking great. k. I also replaced the front windshield so it is brand new!l. New wipers;m. (4) new Spec tires (2. 00 miles on them);n. Original rims;o. M3 badge on grill has been moved to the correct side. Early on owner had a remote radar detector mounted and had moved the badge to allow a clear view. No radar detector in car now and badge back in its proper place;p. Four small tabs to cover tow points on front and rear bumpers are in hand and will be included in sale;q. Light pack for driving computer needs to be replaced. New pack is in glovebox;r. There must be more but if I keep going I will never get this listed… For someone who wants to spend a little more time on this car. it can be a perfect specimen that will most certainly continue to appreciate. As is. it looks fantastic and drives better than new. Everything that could be replaced with new has been. This was not an inexpensive endeavor but the car deserved it!
