BMW X5 4.4 sport package, running boards 18" wheels, needs engine work.

This 2000 BMW X5 4. 4 with sport package was the top of the line X5 in 2000. and has oversized 18' wheels. aluminum step up running boards. 5 disk CD. sunroof. BMW heavy duty trailer hitch. tinted windows. roof racks. and all the other features of a high end BMW. In the last year. it has had new BF Goodrich TA tires that now have about 7. 00 miles on them and no evidence of wear. . new front brakes with slotted rotors and ceramic pads installed. as well as a new battery. radiator. front end hoses. fan. and belts. All window regulators have been replaced as has the water pump and miscellaneous sensors for emissions over the past 3 years. In 2014 it smogged perfectly with near zero ratings for all CO2 and NOX. Grey leather seats are in really good shape. only the driver's seat shows any wear. BMW floor mats are also included. There is a matching grey plastic Weathergard mat in the back hatch area. and a full sized spare with mag wheel that has never been used. AC works fine and blows cold. Has standard BMW AM/FM radio with tape deck and rear mounted 5 CD player. The X5 has been a great vehicle for us and we have owned it since 2004. when we purchased it at Sonnen BMW in Marin as a certified pre-owned vehicle with 49. 00 miles. It currently has 185. 00 miles on it. and served as the classic soccer mom car. In 2014 we drove it to Wisconsin and back and it ran flawlessly and got almost 21 mpg on the freeway. not bad for a beast. The car has had all services except for minor work done by Baldwin German Autowerks in Ignacio. by Brian and Shep. I personally did the rest. Several weeks ago. my wife was returning from Corte Madera. and the X5 stopped and would not start again by Fireman's Fund in Novato. Baldwins inspected it and says the the plastic timing chain guides have shattered and pieces are all over the place. However the engine does turn over. and I am pretty sure the timing chain has not jumped or failed. Baldwins indicated it was a 25 hour job for them to address. I'd rather sell it at this point. as I am convinced that a good mechanic could easily clean up the plastic debris and get it going again. It's a great vehicle and needs some TLC. I'm listing for $3. 95 or best offer as a mechanics special. The buyer will have to get it running and ultimately do the smog test. The X5 is in my driveway and will need to be towed by purchaser.
