Description

On offer here is a very honest and very clean 1963 Buick Electra 225 Convertible. These cars were some of the very best cars produced by Buick in the mid 60s and they were lavishly adorned with options from the factory, specially taking into consideration the time frame in which they were built.

This car was recently discovered in a building in Algona, A where it had spent most of its life. It was purchased from the second owner who purchased the car in August of 1977 with 113,000 original miles on the odometer. The car now shows 119,000 miles which means the car was only driven 6000 miles in the second owners 39 years of ownership. Certainly, efore being stored, he car was likely always well cared for.

The nice thing is the car was stored in a butler style building which had concrete floors so serious rot has never been a problem with this car. There was only minimal evidence of bug and mouse poop in the car when we vacuumed it which tells us that it was not stored in a place where many animals could get inside of it, hankfully.

The car is currently finished in gold which is an older respray. The car retains its original leather interior which has a nice patina to the leather but no rips or tears that we can see. The white top does need to be replaced. The trunk is in great order and the car even still has its original factory trunk mat, pare tire cover, nd cardboard fender liners. The carpet is missing in the front of the interior which we assume was because the last owner was in the process of repairing the heater core. The nice thing about the missing carpet is simply that it exposes extremely nice and very solid floor boards. We believe the car retains all of its original sheetmetal from the factory which is quite rare for a car from this era!

Power windows work as do the power seats although they are very slow. We believe the seats will need to be possibly lubed for smooth operation. The car does have brakes but we do not trust them enough to drive the car. We would recommend rebuilding the system before taking the car out on the street.

The motor is the venerable 401 Buick Nailhead V8 Wildcat which displaced 445cid. The motor runs very quietly and the 2 speed auto shifts and operates as it should as well. The car will need new gas as well as a carb rebuild from the sitting which the car has done. The heater core was recently replaced by the previous owner of the car and the vent parts are in the trunk (as seen in the photographs). We have not driven the car extensively because, gain, he brakes work but you will want to work on them before trusting them. We have also not operated the power top. The white wall tires have great tread on them but they appear to have a good deal of age on them.

We have elected to sell the car as is and let the next owner choose the direction he or she would like to go with it. The car could be fixed up with the mechanical essentials, hined up, nd be a fantastic land yacht/weekend driver or it could be a great candidate for full restoration considering the condition of the sheetmetal! Regardless of which way you choose, heir are an endless number of possibilities and the next owner will have a fantastic cruising car!

As a small edit, he motor is actually a 401 cubic inch unit, uick just used the 445 number on the air cleaner on cars throughout the 1960s!
