The story: I purchased this car from a couple that brought it from California to Pittsburgh and parked it in the basement where it sat. stored for 22 years. The car needed to go. due to the sale of the home. That's where I came in. I'm a Certified Master Auto Technician for 31 years. I've done other restorations and could not pass on this beauty. It's in amazing condition for being 60 years old! I believe the mileage to be correct. although I cannot prove it. Normal wearing items on this car are not worn at all. the hinges. suspension. door and trunk latches. and even the brake backing plates have almost zero wear. Motor runs smooth. with no smoke. The hydraulic brake system on the brakes was shot due to the long term storage. I replaced the master cylinder with a Wilwood dual master cylinder (for safety). all of the wheel cylinders. all brake hoses. and all of the lines with Nickle Copper line (I could have reused the original lines. but opted for the better). all brake shoes are new also. and front wheel bearings packed. The fuel system was also sludged up. so it was all replaced. the tank was completely restored with POR15. dual action fuel pump was rebuilt. and carb was rebuilt (the car came with a 4 barrel manifold. so I opted to upgrade the carb to a new. modern edelbrock 4 barrel in place of the problematic O. E. carb. you will get both with purchase. also O. E. carb had the starter switch built in where the engine cranked at aprox 30% throttle. now has switch under dash). I sent the vacuum wiper motor off for rebuild. and with the dual action fuel/vacuum pump. wipers work great! even on the hills! The cooling system was completely flushed. removed main block freeze plugs. and water pump to flush. replaced thermostat. The factory AM radio still works. however I added a pioneer AVIC-D3 receiver with DVD. navigation. ipod interface. CD. and XM capabilities. under dash with no "hacking" to the original dash. also 2 6x9 kicker speakers under the deck lid in the back. sounds great! Exhaust was replace from the Y-pipe back. New motor mounts. all fluids changed. I have driven this car to many cruises. and had my fun. time for someone else to have some fun. Condition: This is a great looking car from 20 feet away! As you get closer you see that the paint was done poorly and is scratched. chipped. and peeled in several locations. I have taken a soft magnet to this entire car. and there is NO FILLER anywhere. It's a great "driver" quality car. Tires have nearly all tread. but are very old and have some dry rotting. it's manual steering. automatic. All electrical systems work. except the secondary blower motor under the seat. Engine runs great! however. aprox every 30 cranks the bendix in starter doesn't engage. never happened twice in a row. Upholstery is old but in very good condition. except for a small tear in the headliner. The glass is good except for the drivers wing glass is cracked. Chrome is also looks good from 20'. but as you get closer you can seen the signs of where the chrome has come off and worn. There is a trans leak (shaft seal). There is one small spot on the lower right front fender that has some rust that was caused by a small water leak over time when it was stored. The right rear door has a small ripple in the center and a broken emblem ( I was told someone tripped and fell into it). Bottom line: If your looking for a car you can take to cruises. tinker with in your spare time. needs nothing major. and that has great bones. then this is for you! The car drives like it did 60 years ago. with manual steering and bias tires. If you are looking for a show stopper that's completely done. this is not the car for you. Previews welcome and encouraged.
