The Cadillac has long been the benchmark for the American luxury car. The Coupe Deville Phaeton saw limited production. 2400. in 1979. The canvas faux convertible top. locking wire wheel covers. factory pinstripes and the Phaeton badging with a 425 cu. in. . 4 barrel carbureted engine set this vehicle apart from all other Cadillacs. There are two minor rust spots but should only require minor work. There is a little surface rust on the front and rear bumpers. but they do shine. The interior is almost all original and does need some work such as the cracked dashboard (typical for this year vehicle} and the door armrests. The carpet does show its age. but is not torn. The leather seats have held up well showing a few minor cracks. but no tears or broken seams and are very clean for a 36 year old car. This example of “cruising in style” is in very good mechanical condition. The Pa. inspection and emission stickers are valid until May 2015 and was done at a Cadillac dealership. It has four new shocks. new inner and outer tie rods. idler arm. center link arm. transmission gasket and filter. new wiper motor. The exhaust pipe was replaced from the exhaust manifold back a few years ago. It has a modern aftermarket audio system. Power door locks. windows. outside mirrors and driver seat operate well. The A/C works. but needs a new vacuum hose for the heat to work. It starts a little rough. but runs well after starting. Perhaps new spark plugs are in order. This Caddy has current Penna. inspection and emissions stickers good until end of May. Penna. buyer will get new stickers valid until May of 2016. The car drives and runs well and I would not hesitate to use it as a daily driver. The tires have about half their life left as do the brakes. The trunk latch has a motor to pull the deck lid shut so you don’t have to slam it. The hood has struts instead of a prop rod. I originally bought the Phaeton to fix it up and use it as my Sunday driver and for local car shows. Instead. I’ve decided to sell it to help finance my retirement. I have more pictures. Please contact me if you’d like me to email them to you or if you’d like to meet and test drive the Caddy. It started right up at lunch time and again when I left for the day. I've been told that the rough start after sitting for a few days is because the old style fuel system will have the gas drain backwards in the fuel line and it needs to be "primed" bypumping the gas pedal once or twice. Also. all power windows. driver seat and door locks work well as do the dash lights.
