Vinyl Interior SELLER REMARKS This 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is the kind of affordable muscle car we'd all like to own: a 350 cubic inch V8 for power. a fantastic paint job. and it has an awesome stance. There's a good bit of money tied up in this car and it runs every bit as great as it looks. If you're going big. you may as well paint it bright Hugger Orange. It's a full color change from the original code 43 Gulf Green. but there aren't any signs of the previous color so you know they took their time and did the change right. The bodywork is quite nice. with good fit and panels that reflect light almost distortion-free. All the wonderful details of the late A-body design are there. including the character line that runs from nose to tail. and a cowl-induction hood. The stripes have been painted on and are not decals. and follow the factory pattern exactly. Beautiful chrome bumpers have been restored to high standards. and it's kind of nice to see that it's still as it was built and not covered with fake SS badges. although with the 'cowl induction' emblem on the hood and the 'Chevelle' script. nobody will mistake this for a garden-variety piece. Inside. it remains largely stock. because there's not much you can do to improve on one of Chevy's best designs. The black upholstery is older but the seat covers use correct materials and patterns. and the carpets are in great shape. You may note that the head rests have been removed. which gives the factory buckets a custom look that really transforms the interior look. The factory gauges are all fully operational. although the stock setup only offers the basics. so there's a set of auxiliary gauges under the dash plus a tachometer on the steering column. You already know we love the center console and horseshoe shifter. which manages a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. You'll also note factory A/C and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. all sensible upgrades that make this car a pleasure to drive. Even the trunk is exceptionally well finished with custom carpet and interior panels. plus a custom cover for the spare tire. But the real fun of this one is the strong-running 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood. Nicely detailed. there's a splash of chrome in the engine bay. particularly the Chevrolet logo valve covers and air cleaner. The carburetor is a performance-oriented 4-barrel atop an aluminum intake manifold. and with a mild cam inside. it has a potent idle and impressive mid-range punch. It barks to life through a set of long-tube headers feeding great-sounding mufflers underneath. As I mentioned earlier. there's also a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission feeding a 12-bolt with 2. 73 gears inside so it cruises easily at modern highway speeds without much effort. Traditional chrome Cragar SS wheels are the perfect touch and they wear fat 215/70/15 radials. Sometimes cars just stand out for how well-integrated they are. and this is one of those time. A cool Chevelle with a ton of performance for not a lot of money.
