For sale is a very sharp 1969 Chevrolet "REAL X33" Z28 Camaro. THIS IS NOT A CLONE. This rare Camaro was manufactured the 3rd week of December. 1968 (Cowl Tag "12C"). making this one of the first X33 Code Z28's produced. Research shows that GM did not start using the X33 and X77 Codes to identify the true Z28's until sometime during the second week of December. 1968. The X33 cars were "Z28's with z21 style trim". while the X77 cars were "Z28's without the z21 trim". The z21 trim package included some extra chrome trim. etc. The VIN # decodes as a "1969 Camaro Sport Coupe with 8 cylinders" and the Cowl Tag decodes the manufacture date 12C (3rd week. December). paint code 57 57 (Fathom Green). 711 Trim (Black. standard bucket seat interior) and X33 (Z28 w/ z21 style trim). The engine and engine compartment are exceptionally clean and look nearly new. The engine ID # is V0815DZ. decoding as "1969 Camaro. 302 CID Special Performance Package RPO Z28. 290 HP. DZ". The block casting # is GM3970010 and decodes as "1969 Z28 Camaro". I do not believe the block is numbers matching and was a "counter exchange-service engine" under the original warranty in 1969. based upon the codes and dates. However. the engine has the correct heads (3927186 with L11 and L12 date codes). The engine starts on the first crank. sounds great and runs strong with the typical Z28 high revving sound and performance. Although I cannot verify it. it appears the engine has had a recent rebuild and there are no issues known. The engine also has the correct Winters "snowflake" intake. "772" fan. "837" alternator and "692" water pump. The "309" master cylinder w/ booster. "403" bell housing. "633" brake caliper w/ 2 piece rotors and 4 "YH" code 15X7 Rallye wheels are also present. The tires are nearly new BF Goodrich radials. The transmission is a numbers matching Muncie 4-speed. correct VIN # and date codes present. It shifts smoothly and has the correct "Hurst" shifter with the factory chrome knob that was produced on the Z28's. The rear end is a 4. 10 posi-trac. stamped "BV__G2. Although the middle identifiers are not readable. it decodes as a "1969 Camaro 4. 10 posi-trac. manufactured at the Detroit assembly plant in December. 1968". cast date "L18-8". The body is solid and straight and shows no signs of rust or damage. The gap alignments on the hood doors and trunk are very good and shut like new with no rattles or looseness. The underside looks excellent and the floor pans all appear original without any signs of rust or damage. The trunk compartment is solid. no rust and has a new trunk mat with a spare wheel/tire and jack assembly. The factory paint code (57 57) is "Fathom Green". however. the current color is more of a "Teal Green". The glass is in very good condition and appears original with the "soft-ray" tint marked. The windshield is also in very good condition with no scratches or marks visible. The headliner and visors are new. the dash pad. steering wheel and console are in very good to excellent condition. The car has the cowl hood and air breather along with exhaust headers and nearly new exhaust. The front and rear air spoilers are also present. The factory exhaust mounting plate on the left rear frame rail is present. This car was ordered without the factory tachometer in the dash and has a "Sun Mini-Tach" to monitor the RPM's. The car also has a new "Retro" Chevrolet AM/FM radio with matching Dual Voice Coil speaker for a great sound. New KYB shocks on the front and rear suspension are also on the car. This is a very sharp X33 true Z28 Camaro. not a clone. Although not a perfect car. it is a solid true survivor that runs. drives and looks exceptional.
