Description Spring is around the corner and if you are a vintage Corvette enthusiast and are looking for a clean 1962 Corvette to enjoy. this is it. You are looking at an outstanding 1962 Corvette Convertible that is in excellent shape and has been updated for reliability. It has been well taken care of and needs very little. Below is a video collection of the car: Please scroll down and enjoy the 400+ photos. If you cannot view all the photos. please click here. The triple black 1962 Corvette convertible. VIN number 20867S113487 is a soft top only car built in June/ July 1962. the last months before re-tooling for 1963 models. It was originally a 340HP 327 V8 car with a manual 4 speed transmission. The engine and most engine components have been changed to a more modern power plant consisting of a 350 ZZ4 crate engine and what we believe to be a Muncie transmission. The brakes were also converted to manual front disc and a dual master cylinder for safety and better stopping. All of the upgrades were done to make the vehicle more drivable and reliable. In addition. the wheels and tires were changed to American Racing wheels and Michelin tires. The car appears to be an original black car with black interior and black top. We could find no signs of any collision damage but did find fiberglass work around the top of the inner rear wheel wells due to oversize tires years ago that wore the top of the inner fiberglass. The body panels. doors. gauges. seat frames. and most trim appear to be original. with the exception of the hood. which is factory 1962 GM. but appears to have been replaced years ago. The top and frame are both in great condition. The car has a number of reproduction. NOS and replacement parts. including but not limited to. the radiator. generator. brackets. engine components. seat covers. horns. rear springs. license plate housing. radio. jack. spare tires and wheel. The 4 speed shifter appears to be original. The dash pad is starting to shrink and has been stapled in spots. While inspecting the car we did find extensive welding that has been done on the frame due to rust. The repairs were done years ago and incorporate much of the frame from the drivers seat to the rear kick ups. and from behind the passenger seat to the rear kick ups. They appear to be high quality and structurally sound repairs and are fairly common on vintage Corvettes from this region of the country. We also found the VIN tag to be damaged but still readable. The title VIN reads A20867S113487 on the title which at some point had an A added before the number at some point in he past. Again. not a big issue but we believe in disclosure. The components of the car date range from the door glass of June. 1961 and January 1962. and the warranty booklet appears to be from an earlier car as the delivery date is one month before the car was built. The bodywork and paint appear to be fairly high quality but the car could use a buffing and possible light wet sand due to dirt. marks and scratches from use. The carpeting has moderate fading and the mats are wearing. The battery is also in need of replacement. and the generator appears that it may need to be serviced. The gas in the car is old and it was difficult to tell if there is a carburetor issue or simply bad gas. The car drives and shifts well. and most or all the gauges appear to work. To summarize. it is our opinion that this car with minimal work would be a very nice driver. It has had a number of additions to make it more reliable and comfortable. While it is probably not an NCRS candidate for judging due to the originality of certain components. it is a great vehicle that was restored to drive reliably. It would make a great addition for the Corvette enthusiast who wants a 1962 Corvette convertible. The 1962 model year is arguably one of the most significant year Corvettes with some of the best styling and mechanical upgrades. We have been asked to place a VERY reasonable $35. 00 reserve on this car. that in no way reflects the value. Best of luck in the auction. Additional auction information: This vehicle is sold as-is.
