Description

1977 Chevrolet Corvette T-Top Sport Coupe Solid original 61. 59 mile car with the original matching numbers engine Rare Black on Black car and correct original trim tag on the car Rare V54 Option Luggage and Roof Panel Carrier Rack This Corvette was built on Friday March 4th. 1977 This is the 25. 00th Corvette built out of 49. 13 total produced in 1977 Any questions call (417)-773-0318 or (417)-425-9629These model Corvettes are becoming increasingly more popular and desirable because they are still a classis corvette but yet still way more affordable than the previous model years. You can actually buy a corvette like this and drive it a year or to and get your money back and sometimes even make a profit. You will see these model of corvettes increase in value in the next couple of years. I have already seen it just this past year. I have bought cars that I have sold just a year ago and have already tried to purchase them back at more than I have sold them. This 1977 Corvette is a very nice solid original car that you can still drive and enjoy. Finished in correct original black exterior code (19) and black leather interior code (192). You very seldom ever see a black Corvette in the 70's because there wasn't any. In fact 1977 was the first year that you could get black on a corvette from the factory since 1969! So there was many years that black was not available. Generally most are white cars as the lighter colors tend to hide the flaws in the fiberglass on these model of corvettes. A black car has to be somewhat straighter to not show off all the flaws of the fiberglass finish. This particular corvette has had a newer paint job done nicely. It shines well and is buffed out good. The fit and gaps are all great for the year. The doors all line up nice along with the hood. bumpers. and headlight assemblies. The T-tops line up nicely as well. The front and rear bumpers are the original urethane ones and have plenty of flex and still look great. They are not cracked that I am aware of. The paint does have a few minor nicks on the front of the car that have been touched up but you have to look close to see them. The original decals are still on the drivers side door jamb from the factory. All of the window glass is excellent and original except for the windshield as it has been new replacement at some time. No cracks or nicks in the glass. The taillights. door handles. parking light grill assemblies and rocker moldings are all still nice and do not need to be replaced or refinished. I personally have driven this car on a 200 mile road trip and it drives out like a 61. 59 mile car should. Nice. tight. and solid with no play in the steering and has plenty of power. The interior is mostly all original including the seats. door panels. carpet. and dash assembly. The interior is about as excellent original as you can get. No cracks in the leather seats nor any wear. The dash pad is near perfect and all of the gauges still look nice and fresh and not faded. The door panels are very nice with only one or two minor flaws in the passenger side which is not bad enough to really need to address it. The seat belts are all intact and all plastic inner panels are in great shape. The floor mats and center console are about the only new things in the interior. The radio is aftermarket am/fm cassette player but the gauge cluster was not cut or altered to accommodate the radio. In fact the radio is smaller than the original opening and there is a nice faceplate cover that fills in the gap of the radio. Although it is aftermarket it does look good in the car and not like some of the CD players that you see in many of these models. It does have small rear speakers. The gauges all work except for the clock and trip odometer. The odometer works fine and the trip odometer occasionally works. The leather steering wheel is excellent along with the paint finish on the steering column. Just an overall very nice example of a 1977 corvette inside and out. The engine compartment has been cleaned and detailed on the top side. All shielding is in place and the original air cleaner assembly is still on the car. Even the original underhood insulation is intact and in amazing condition and does not need replacing. The underhood light does work. We did service the car with Lucas oil and removed the valve covers to refinish and installed new valve cover gaskets along with the air filter. The fan blade. pulleys. and air cleaner were removed and refinished as well. The previous owner was in the St. Louis area and had installed a new radiator and new u-joints recently. We did polish the wheels out and repaint the center section and slots as the way it would have been in 1977. The wheels are all nice and no curb marks or rash marks. The tires are BF/Goodrich radial TA's and were rebalanced at the time of the wheels being polished. All four tires are a matches set and have plenty of tread left in them. Also the center caps and lug nuts are new gm. We did replace the fuel gauge and both door weatherstrips as well. The headlights all work as they should along with the wipers. horn. emergency brake. all inside lighting is in working order. etc. Heater and defroster work and the fan blower switch is new along with a new relay switch as well. The air conditioning appears to have had a new gm compressor installed recently and works but is not ice cold. The car does still have a catalytic converter on the car but has had newer mufflers replaced with chrome tail pipe extensions. The options and features on this car include:L-48 350 c. i. The car has been in the St. Louis area the past few years and garaged kept. Also the original t-top roof panel carrier brackets and holding strap are with the car and that is a rare option and usually always missing. The chrome on the brackets is nice. This look is very unique to the car and gives you more inside storage space instead of putting the T-tops behind the seats. Easy to install once learned and the T-tops will not come off of the luggage rack when driven. This was the first year that the luggage rack and roof panel carrier brackets were a factory option. Until 1977 the luggage rack was a dealer only installed feature and not factory installed. Unique to 1977 model year as the later models such as 1980 through 1982 had this option but the brackets bolted through holes in the top side of the body panels. 1977 was the last year for the straight back window in a Corvette. This makes this year model more desirable than other ones. Also cruise control was introduced as an option only with an automatic transmission. The new V54 luggage and roof panel carrier rack was introduced. A new console held heater and air conditioning controls and accepted standard Delco radios due to its increased depth. A new steering column positioned the steering wheel two inches closer to the instrument panel to provide more of an "arms out" driving position. and easier entry and exit. Also a new leather wrapped steering wheel was introduced on the tilt/telescopic steering column option. This was a big plus as the previous 1976 model year only had a steering wheel that was the same as the Vega model. Many corvette owners were upset about that. The alarm activator was still mounted on the driver-side fender just in front of the cross flag emblem. It was not until later in production that the alarm was moved to the driver-side door lock. Leather seats were standard for the first time in 1977. but a cloth-leather combination could be substituted at no cost. Between August 23 and September 7. 1976. Flint Engine changed from orange paint to blue for Corvette engines. The headlight dimmer and windshield wiper/washer controls were located on steering column stalks. Sunshades were redesigned to permit swinging to the side windows. The interior rearview mirror mounting point was relocated from above the windshield to the windshield itself. 1977 was also the last year for a full size spare tire and wheel as the 1978 model had a smaller donut style spare.
