Authentic & Fully Restored 1957 Chevy 210 Hardtop "IN-BOMBER" historic NHRA Drag Car. H/Stock Class Champion & Stock Eliminator Semi Finalist at 1968 NHRA "Indy" Nationals. The only known surviving Indy winning '57 Chevy Jr. Stocker in existence. Records changed by the day. but few had the opportunity to run the NHRA Nationals circuit and fewer won their class! The car is an original 210 Hardtop (most 210's were sedans!) and was campaigned by the Patrick Brothers of Omaha Nebraska between 1966-1970. The car originally ran a Rochester Fuel Injection unit and was named "In-Bomber" as a play on words between "embalmer" and the injected engine. (notice the zombie hand squirting a syringe of embalming fluid on the doors!). The car raced at strips all over the mid west. and competed in the 1968 NHRA Winternationals. 1968 NHRA U. S. Nationals (H/Stock Class Champion & Stock Eliminator Semi Finalist). 1969 NHRA Winternationals. 1969 NHRA Springnationals. and 1969 NHRA U. S. Nationals. It also won several "King of the Hill" drag competitions along the way. and was featured in the summer 1969 issue of "1001 Custom and Rod Ideas" magazine. The Patrick Brothers ran the car as part of a three car team along with Don Stephenson's '57 210 sedan "TENSION" and Fred Anderson's Bel Air hardtop "GOOD IN-TENSION". For 1969 the car received dual quads and the top of the top of the car was painted white. This is look the car was restored to. For 1970 the car was contracted to a local Omaha driver under ownership of the Patrick Brothers. after which it was retired. The car received a frame up restoration which was completed in time for it's unveiling at the 2010 York Drag Reunion. The car features a one-piece "California" frame. original Tension Team adjustable ladder bars. P-Case posi rear with 4:56 gears. original chrome reverse wheels. and rare NOS Mickey Thompson cheater slicks with Firestone front runners. Countless hours were spent locating and/or recreating decals for the car (notice the original 1968 Nationals "T" trophy run windshield sticker!) and hand painting the lettering exactly as it was. The engine is a thick wall 1962 283. just as it ran. which has been modified internally a bit further than the rules would have allowed for at the time. but still maintains a correct 1960's jr. stock look. The dyno showed 403 HP and climbing at 6. 00 RPM. I would expect it's peak to be around 420 HP or so. Torque was 388 ft. lbs. Equipped with rare NOS 1968 Mondello Posi Flow heads. Crower solid lifter cam. JE 12. 5:1 pop up pistons (11:1 Compression. runs fine on 93 pump gas). and original Stahl fenderwell headers from the "GOOD IN-TENSION" '57 Chevy. Too much to list in this engine! A real screamer with tons of vintage parts. Transmission is a Borg Warner 4spd. This car is an important piece of drag race history. The '57 Chevy is widely recognized as one of the top iconic American cars ever built. and to have one with such a rich and significant racing history as this makes it a true prize in any collection. The car is sold on a clear Iowa title with a Connecticut bill of sale. Feel free to email or call with any questions. 860-873-1092 evenings. 860-345-2100 week days.
