1952 Chevy, leetline, door fastback
235 cu in
I bought this car to build a street rod. It didn't run, o brakes and not knowing the condition of the undercarriage. Seeing just a few photos I took a chance. The car arrived, he body didn't look too bad, the engine had clean oil and anti freeze. What's left of the interior along with a bunch other parts was stuffed into the car. All the tires were dry rotted and flat. The car comes with 2 of the original wheels. This car has a lot of potential, ot rod, treet rod, ow rider, at rod, riginal, hatever you decide. Got to admit, t is a cool car. I pulled the spark plugs and sprayed WD-40 into all the cylinders until I had time to work on it. Under the car looked good, uch better than I expected. The passenger side floors, ront and rear needed replace and also the cowl body support. The support needed to come out to replace the floor pan correctly. The lower rear quarters and deck lid were ripped open, ot rotted, aybe from being moved with a loader or forklift. These panels and deck lid were replaced. The drivers door was rotted pretty badly, e replaced the rotted area with patch panels. The patch panels are close but not exact. The inner and outer rocker panels are solid, he frame and body braces are in good condition. The drivers side floor has a few pinholes, didn't think it was bad enough to replace the floors.
The engine looked clean and was able to run without doing too much. I cleaned the points, ap and rotor, filled the carburetor with gas, ot wired it and it started. As good as it ran and as rare this car is I decided it would be best to leave the car in original condition. It does have a 235 cu. in. in it and not the 216 cu in. It has a 3 speed on the column.
The engine I replaced the: points, lugs, ires, ap, otor, il, il filter, alve stem seals, uel pump, ilter, arburetor kit, ater pump, an belt, il pan gasket, ntake gasket, ead gasket set. The generator and voltage regulator are 12 volt. The generator has a rebuilt tag on it. It looks clean.
The clutch was recent but I did replace the throw out bearing and change the gear oil in the transmission.
The car has a new gas tank, uel sending unit, ill hoses and a new 3 core aluminum radiator.
The brakes have new wheel cylinders, aster cylinder, aster cylinder cover, lexible lines front and rear. Cleaned and repacked the front wheel bearings and seals.
Power washed the engine compartment and painted. The nose was removed and most of the smaller parts glass beaded, rimed and painted. While the engine was out we dropped the oil pan and found it to be clean with no sludge. We also removed the cylinder head to check the condition of the cylinders, e found them clean with no ridge, he cylinder walls have fairly recent cross hatch pattern from being honed. I believe the motor has been rebuilt. While apart we replaced the valve stem seals.
The car has new front and rear windshield rubber gaskets. I don't have the passenger side windshield glass. The left side is not installed but does have a new gasket. Both vent windows and drivers door window have been replaced. The car has tinted green glass. The car is in primer and most of the bodywork done.
To the best of my knowledge the car needs; a new interior, ront windshield, ear bumper, ide view mirror, t needs to be rewired. The front and rear suspension are the original.
I bought the tires and wheels from a friend, he tires have barely any wear but the wheels do have some pitting from being in storage.
The car is wired so it can be started from the inside with an aftermarket ignition switch. It yard drives and can be driven onto a trailer for transportation. The shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I can assist in loading if needed.
