Few American sports cars capture the imagination like the '63 Corvette Split Window Coupe.
The car became an instant classic the moment it was introduced to the general public in '62 and has remained at or near the top of just about every Corvette enthusiasts wish list ever since. With the exception of the drive train, hich was basically a carry-over from the '62 Corvette, he car was all new and introduced for the first me in the Corvette line up, Coupe. But, his wasn't just any Coupe. One particular design element made the '63 Coupe one of the most unique sports cars ever to hit the pavement! Who would have thought that a strip of fiberglass running between the rear window (thus creating the Split Window Coupe) would be the cause equal amounts of wild praise and controversy at the same time! Regardless, here's no denying the undisputed beauty of this one year only Corvette!
So it's been said; "All Corvettes Are Red!" and the '63 featured here certainly fits that adage perfectly! When the search began for a Split Window to complement his just restored ’63 Red Roadster, he previous owner of our featured car wasn’t exactly sure what he would end up with. The restoration had been started, ut not completed when he found it. And because of some . . . ahem “marital issues” the wife of the gentlemen he ultimately purchased the car from tossed out many of the parts needed to complete the resto. On top of that, he car had been stripped of all of its paint. But, hen the Trim Tag was inspected, t was discovered that this was a real, rom the factory Riverside Red w/matching Red interior S.W.C.! Unexpectedly, e know had both a Red Roadster and a Reds Coupe. Bookends!! So the restoration resumed in ’89 and completed a year or so later. Although, he engine is not the 327 it was born with, t’s been completely rebuilt and runs like a champ! The paint is show quality, s is the rest or the car and it runs, hifts, tops and handles just like it should. On top of that, verything works! Even the radio and clock! The car has also been written up in multiple automotive publications along with its "sister" F.I. Roadster". This is a Corvette that you could drive anywhere and likely win a few car shows along the way!
