BEAUTIFUL GLACIER BLUE 1955 CHEVROLET BEL AIR 4 DOOR...VERY ORIGINAL, OW MILEAGE CLASSIC READY TO DRIVE AND ENJOY!!!
If you have been on the search for an affordable, eautiful, lassic, riginal Chevrolet Bel Air that is in great condition, nd is turn key ready to drive and enjoy then this '55 4 door Glacier Blue beauty is the one for you!!! A local gentleman drove this to our shop recently and asked if we would help him find it a new home. A quick walk around showed it to be a very solid, traight body with great eye appeal and nice driver quality paint. The chrome and stainless all looked great and the interior, hile extremely original looked quite nice. He threw me the keys and told me to take it for a ride. A turn of the key and the original 235 6 cylinder fired right up and was quiet as a church mouse. I took a nice ride around our area and this '55 Bel Air drove fantastic! I asked him why he wanted to sell such a sweet running car and he explained that he had gone to purchase a '54 Bel Air that he really wanted and the dealer had this '55 and convinced him to buy both. The '54 had more sentimental value to him and even though the '55 was the nicer of the two he knew it did not make sense to keep them both. This is good news for the next lucky owner....maybe you??!! We are selling this particular car on consignment for the current owner but we do have the car in our showroom if you would like to come see and drive it in person. I will do my best to provide enough large images, video of it starting up and running, nd an honest description to help you decide if this Bel Air should be in your garage! Like all of our classics we do have the '55 listed on our website and several other sites so if you do not want to miss out feel free to call me to discuss putting this Bel Air in your garage before the next car guy or gal scoops it up! Sit back and enjoy!
As you will see in the pics below, his '55 Bel Air is in great overall condition. It was originally produced in the Atlanta, A production facility and is believed to have spent its entire life here in Georgia. The current owner did not have a lot of history or documentation but based on the condition of the body it is quite obvious that this Bel Air lived a pretty rust free life and was always well cared for and most likely spent most of its life in the garage. He was told that the car did receive a new paint job about 15 years ago. I believe this car was originally a 2 tone Glacier Blue and Skyline Blue and was changed to Glacier Blue and Ivory white which looks awesome. I would describe the overall paint quality as driver quality. By this I mean that the car looks great overall but it is not a show car finish. There are some minor blems that I do not think you will be able to see in the pics but upon close inspection are evident. None of these take away from the overall appeal of this '55 but I want the next owner to know that there are some flaws that will not show in the pics. There are a couple of spots where the paint has chipped off of the cowl vent in front of the windshield and a few other minor chips that could be touched up quite easily. The body is quite straight and body panel fit is excellent. Ibelieve this classic still has all of itsoriginal body panels. Doors open and close great. No rust evident although there is some really minor surface rust starting along the top of the drivers side rear door where there are some minor chips in the paint below the stainless trim. All of the stainless trim, mblems, nd chrome looks excellent. Front bumper looks new and the rear bumper looks great but does have a small ding near the center. Glass all looks very nice and windows roll up and down nicely. The rear window does have some slight fogging in the original glass. While there are some minor flaws in the body, think that you will find that this '55 is in fantastic condition for the age and is rock solid. You will get plenty of comments wherever you take it and this car would be welcome and local shows and cruise-ins if this is what you enjoy. Here is a walk around tour of the body:
The two tone blue interior appears to be mostly original and in great condition overall. Seat covers appear to be original and starting to show some wear but no rips or tears. Door panels look great overall and could probably just use a good cleaning Headliner looks like it was replaced and looks great. Carpeting also looks like it was replaced and looks excellent. The dash and original steering wheel look awesome. Gauges are very clear and everything appears to be working correctly. Rear package tray is sun faded. Overall I think you will see in the pics below that the interior retains some great originality and still looks excellent. Take a look inside:
Pop the hood and you will find the original 236 6 cylinder which we believe has just under 72,000 original miles. I was really impressed with how great this '55 Bel Air runs and drives. As they say, t is quiet as a church mouse!!! It has the original 3-speed with overdrive on the column and she will cruise at 70 mph on the highway nicely. Steering and handling is nice and tight with no float. Braking is easy and drums are nicely adjusted with no pulling. It is obvious that this classic was very well maintained. As you will see in the pics, he engine bay is very clean and original. It could easily be detailed in a weekend to be ready for the shows if desired. Undercarriage is very solid as you would expect from a 60 year old classic that was garage kept and lived its life in Georgia. I noticed a very small spot on the drivers front floor pan that was showing some minor rust but overall the pans are rock solid. Frame rails are rust free, olid and straight. The undercarriage could also be detailed nicely in a weekend if desired. Inside of trunk is also rock solid. Spare with original hubcap and jack. This '55 is riding on a nice set of white wall radials with plenty of tread life left and wheels and hubcaps look great. This Bel Air is truly a joy to drive and runs nice and cool. Take a look at the pics below and listen to the video that follows to hear it start up and running.
