1955 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop No ReserveOne of the true iconic. most sought after classics of all time. I have a small. modest collection of classics. I purchased this 55 last year after a lengthy search. The body is razor straight and my friends comment that it is one of the best paint jobs they have ever seen. A local custom car builder estimated it would cost 20K to replicate. This car had a 350/350 when purchased. It had front disc brakes with a dual reservoir. It had a chrome aftermarket tilt/telescopic steering column with a real 55 Bel Air steering wheel. It needed a power brake booster which was installed to make the brakes perform better. The gas gauge was not working. The gas tank was new. I bought a new sending unit for the gas tank and a new gas gauge from Danchuck. A local shop advised the sending unit was fine but the gauge needed replacing. I still have it new in the box. There is a nostalgic set of mechanical gauges for water temp. oil pressure and amps. The interior is new and goes well with the exterior paint. I have approximately 37K in this car and well sell for no reserve with the opening bid at 32K. The reason to sell is that it probably makes sense to downsize. and it was between this car and my 57 Olds. I am staying with the Olds because I have had it for 10 years (it needs painting and some upgrades). And the 55 has taken its garage space. Initially I thought of selling the Olds. which is all original and keeping the 55 (since EVERYTHING for a 55 is still readily available). but have changed my mind. If there is a negative to this ad it is me. I have no patience for tire kickers. dreamers. people who want to trade me their 53 Dodge truck. etc. I won't answer those emails. I do not want to hear from car flippers or anyone who wants to low ball. I'm an old school. and over my lifetime have bought and sold many classics. This car deserves a good home to a private party who knows the value of a 1955 BelAir hardtop and wants to have it and has the cash money. I highly recommend you come and see the car. which is in CA. If you can't. then email and we can coordinate having a qualified appraiser look at it for you. Anyone who bids this kind of money ought to understand that. Personally. I would never buy a car I did not inspect or have a third party inspect. If it doesn't sell. I will keep it. I have enough room on my property to build another garage. The price of this 55 is very modest compared to other 55s out there. What I would do to it if I kept it would be to install Vintage Air. Currently it does not have a heater. Vintage Air makes a "for 55" unit that adds heating/air conditioning and uses the stock controls. All the lights. turn signals. wipers. horn. etc. work fine. but the wiring was not completely re-done. To take it to another level. I would put all new wiring in. There are some other small items I would tidy up in the engine bay to give it a higher custom look. Having said the above. this is a great driving car.
