Drive Train
engine - no, he engine did not originally come with THIS car. The block is a 1967 block - 396ci. It has been built with a complete roller cam setup, ncluding roller rockers. Heads are Edelbrock aluminum that came complete with valves.
Transmission - is a Muncie M21 4-speed with Hurst shifter - the case indicated that it came from a 1967 car, ut when I got this car, t did not have an engine or tranny.
Rear Axle - was in this car when when I got it - had it rebuilt. It is a 3.55 positraction rear.
Tires - are reline radials purchased from Coker Tire mounted on 15x8 Rally Wheels.

Additional information:
This is a true SS396 (vin 13817) that has been totally restored – every bolt and nut. This car won best of show at the first car show it went to – over 100 cars registered inParkland,Florida. Mileage on the odometer show a little over 800 miles – that is since restoration completion. Mileage on the title is “exempt”.

The body and chassis were separated and the body sent to be chemically dipped.

The frame was in very good shape – little to no rust – sent to the sand blaster for complete cleanup. All chassis parts that were retained (a-arms, tc.) were media blasted prior to painting with Eastwood’s chassis black. Every suspension component is new. The front disk brakes and rear drum brakes are all new. All new brake and fuel lines were installed. The rear 3.55 axle was completely rebuilt. Every attempt was made to keep the car as original as possible.

The body, nce returned from the dipping process and placed on the rotisserie, ad all new metal welded in. New interior floors, runk floor, ear panel behind package tray, ear quarter patch panels, nd rear panel above bumper were all welded in and ground smooth. The body went back to the chemical dip for one last rust removal upon return placed back on rotisserie, nd then completely coated with epoxy primer inside and out. The fenders and doors were repaired as necessary and also coated with epoxy primer. The replacement hood and trunk lid were also prepped and coated with epoxy primer. All body work was then completed and sprayed with high build primer. After dry sanding, here were more coats of primer sprayed for the wet sanding process. When ready for paint, he car was sprayed with sealer, ase coat (Bolero Red – original color of the car), nd then clear. Once cured, he body was sanded and buffed.

When I found the car, here was no motor or transmission installed. I was able to locate a correct date coded 396 block. The engine was built around that block. The machining was completed by the local Chevy hot rod shop. A complete roller cam, ifters, nd rockers system from Comp Cams was installed – the Thumper cam (2500-5000 RPM) was used. Edelbrock aluminum heads, anderson headers, olley Street Avenger carburetor, nd electronic ignition were all installed.

The transmission I located is a 1967 Muncie M-21 – it has been totally rebuilt and shifts like a dream with theHurstshifter installed. The clutch is a Center Force and covered by aLakewoodbell housing. All new motor and transmission mounts were used, s well as all bolts and nuts.

An all new updated wiring harness was installed.

The interior is all new from PUI. The original seat configuration was a bench up front. I converted to bucket seats, elding in the floor adapters to insure proper fit. Every part of the interior is new – headliner, ome light, eat foam, eat covers, ash pad, auge cluster (including pressures and temp gauges) with the correct tachometer (with signal light), oor and side panels, ll handles and knobs, adio (front and rear speakers), arpet, oor sills, ick panels, nd on and on. The console is an original 67 Chevelle console, ew courtesy light works, ith a new quartz clock installed. The seat backs are original 67 Chevelle metal seat backs.
