Description

Up for bid is a 1979 El Camino 350 V8 with Turbo 350 automatic transmission. The exterior was originally brown and beige but painted Corvette yellow by Maaco around 2002. I purchased it as my daughter’s first car and it has been in the family for 20+ years. It needs a lot of work. There is a backfire/engine stumble under moderate-to-heavy acceleration that comes and goes and an intermittent hydraulic fluid leak that I cannot locate the source. I put in new power steering hoses but the leak remains. The passenger side exhaust manifold has a hole but it is not too loud. (Exhaust manifold does need to be replaced. ) I pulled out the old worn out carpets and the floor boards are solid. The gages (amp. fuel. temp etc. ) do not work but the turn signals. wipers. lights are fine. Within the last year or 2. I bought a new battery. rear air shocks. plugs/wires and a new windshield. It has a trailer hitch too. There is a 10+ year old Edlebrock 4 barrel carb that may be the cause of the backfire (may need a rebuild?). The body has a few bumps and dings but nothing major. This is one of the best riding cars I have owned. It handles very well on the road. Front suspension was rebuilt about 10 years ago with very few miles on the car since them. Transmission works fine. This car would make a great ride for anyone willing to spend a little time and elbow grease. The car has been located in the high desert of Eastern Washington and has rarely been drive in snow and ice. Tires have plenty of tread and hold air. but they are old and needed to be replaced. I don't know the exact mileage as the odometer and speedometer have not worked in years. This 79 El Camino is listed with no reserve and is sold as is. I have too many unfinished projects. too little time and way too little space. In all honesty. I am too lazy to spend the energy needed to get her back up to good running condition. Thanks for checking out my listing. Good Luck on your bid!
