Winning the GT1 class in the ALMS (American LeMans [racing] Series) is a very big deal and Canadian racer Ron Fellows had a big part in it. The Ron Fellows Z06 was the first Z06 to wear Arctic White paint. which replicates that found on the race cars. right down to the hash marks on the front fenders. Actually. those hash marks go back decades to the first Grand Sport racers. so Corvette guys should already be very familiar with them. As a low-mileage. 2-owner car. this one is completely original and untouched save for some meticulous attention to detailing and waxing. giving it a showroom shine that makes it look special. The Ron Fellows edition also got a low-profile rear spoiler as well as Ron's autograph on one of the hash stripes. as well as a subtle maple leaf logo celebrating Ron's home country. The rest is basic Z06. which is the Corvette to own if you participate in track days or competition of any sort. Wider fender flares house oversized rubber. all the ducts and scoops you see are functional. cooling and feeding various components under the skin. and full of lightweight materials to help performance at the very basic level. And it's almost completely unmarked and beautifully preserved. The two-tone leather interior is beautifully finished. particularly for a Corvette. whose interiors prior to this were always a source of complaints from the motoring press. Here. red accents highlight the otherwise monochromatic interior treatment. and the well-bolstered sport seats are up to the rigors of track duty. There's a carbon-fiber weave on the instrument panel and center console. which GM called a "tech pattern" and the center armrest is wrapped with more red leather and adorned with the car number (#288 out of 399 built) and yet another Ron Fellows signature-who does this guy think he is. Carroll Shelby? Of course. everything was standard equipment on the Ron Fellows Z06. so you get climate control. power windows. locks. and seats. a heads-up display. a powerful stereo. and much. much more. It's possible that the driver's seat shows some wear. but the rest of the interior is virtually unmarked and like new. which is about how I'd describe this entire car. It should be no surprise that the Z06 was chosen to carry the ALMS banner. Built from the ground up to be a street legal track weapon. it packs the biggest small block ever built. a thundering 7. 0-liter LS7 V8. Other tweaks and tricks allow it to grunt out 505 horsepower. making it the most powerful naturally-aspirated Corvette ever built. The suspension and brakes are no less wondrous. and the chassis is aluminum to save weight in a big way. A 6-speed manual transaxle with special ratios and a taller rear gear mean that it hammers out of the hole yet cruises easily at insane triple-digit speeds. Seriously. if you need only one car. the Z06 is an excellent choice. Even better. the Ron Fellows edition got glitzy chrome wheels which wear original 275/35/18 front and 325/30/19 rear Goodyear radials.
