83 malibu Up for bid is a 1983 Chevy Malibu wagon. Exceptionally rust-free undercarriage and body. Factory V6 a/c car with cruise and rear defroster and no other options. Now sports power driver's seat and 1972 5. 7L Chevy 350 V8 engine with 600 cfm Holley 4 bbl and Edelbrock intake and 700R4 4 speed automatic transmission with shift kit and 3. 23 limited slip rear end. Proper motor swap with V8 springs. V8 front rotors/calipers. rear sway bar. and heavy duty center link. Older respray and quality color change (door panels and interior trim removed) where the only way you can tell the car was originally silver is one spot under the hood on the inner fender. Car now black with some light metal flake in a good older repaint. Also sport Monte SS guages. Prior owner marked 95k actual miles and reads 29k now. but gauges replaced. so I'm calling it true miles unknown. Runs STRONG and drives GREAT - drive this car anywhere. Questions? Pleasant after 6:30 pm weekdays or any time weekends by appointment. Condition Report ENGINE: Runs on all eight cylinders without smoking. missing or knocking. Engine runs at proper temperature. Good battery & good charging system. Starts easy and runs strong. Sorry I don't know what's inside the motor. or what's been replaced. but not so much as a lifter tick nor a puff of smoke at start up or any other time. Motor seems very strong with no issues and runs cool (yes. 3 row V8 radiator installed. ) TRANSMISSION: Performs beautifully. Engages gears quickly and shifts through all forward gears and reverse with good downshift and torque converter performance. Shifts nice and hard with shift kit. Clean fluid with no burn odors. EXTERIOR: Body: Body is in very nice shape with no notable dings - very straight down the sides. Under close inspection you can see left rear quarterpanel had some body work near the gas door. and some spots on the hood where the cowl was molded to factory hood. No body rust. Above average body. Paint: Paint is good in most spots. but has a couple chips brush-touched. and one run near left rear window as seen in pics. Has a couple chips on roof where roof rack holes were filled as pictured with my finger. Filler pieces missing around rear bumper (easy to make with metal. ) Better than a ten footer. but not a show car. Still very nice. Other: Chrome bumpers painted flat black with a couple paint chips showing. Glass is all good. Undercarriage is exceptionally nice and solid - see the pics - no rust in rear frame rails. Aftermarket wheels look good but have a little chrome peeling around the lugnut holes. INTERIOR: Interior of the car is very nice. Dash has some cracks under dash mat. seating areas are in nice shape. cargo area pretty nice. Headliner is nice - no sagging or tears - but missing a plastic trim piece at the back. Steering wheel is in nice shape. Carpet is in very nice shape with some very minor wear near right rear door opening. No smoke or pet odors. Very nice interior overall. Not sure what the seats came out of but maybe out of a late 90's Lumina. Rear seat upholstered correctly for fold down function perfectly. ELECTRICAL STUFF: All inspection items work (lights. horn. wipers. etc. ) Heat works fine. and a/c works but blows only on floor. Cruise does not work. Power driver's seat works but slowly. Radio does not work but has aftermarket rear speakers and wiring for sound - add to your taste. Intermittent wipers and rear defrost work. SS gauges all work except for tach - temp. amps. oil pressure all work. DRIVEABILITY: Drives out beautifully! Steering is pretty tight (about an inch of play all in the box. not the linkage). alignment is good. suspension is tight. Brakes work well with good linings and no vibration. Tires have about 70% tread remaining on a matched set of good quality radials. Solid newer exhaust with glass packs that dump in front of rear wheels. Drives out strong and fast - pulls and pulls.
