Description

Yes, ou read right, 1957 El Camino.Chevrolet did not start building the El Camino for production until 1959.It’s been said that this car was one of the prototypes for the 1959 El Camino. This is a very rare car – supposedly 1 of 7 built for the 1957 Detroit Auto Show.I have no proof of this (nor do I wish to debate it) but do know that The Danbury Mint made a die cast of this car called “The Phantom”.Whatever you believe, ou can see that the car was made off of a Nomad platform and is a very unusual automobile. The story behind this one is classic – I literally picked it up from out of a barn.Hidden under years of dust.Drove it home and then I waited.I waited for my decision to come to me whether I would make it into a custom rod or restore it to “original”.Before I made my decision, took it to some shows “as-is” and it got a lot of looks!I finally decided to restore it to its original intended state.Years later, he emerged restored and she won everything from best of show to 1stin class in every show she was entered in. This car really gets looks now!I don’t do restorations half assed. This one was no exception - frame off was done.A brand new 350 Chevy small block motor is under the hood.I used as many original parts as I could, eplacing them as needed if they were not salvageable.Chrome is perfect.Gaps are right.Seats were re-upholstered and stuffed.Floor pans are solid, arpet is new.Dash/gauge clusters are original.Put a new radio in the dash but tastefully done to look almost original – you have some tunes that don’t take away from the looks of the car. Please email questions or to set up an appointment to view the car.I encourage you to come and take a look at the car in person. While I took as many pictures as I could of what I thought you would want to see, very person’s ideas and expectations are different when it comes to car.Serious bidders only.$1000 non-refundable deposit required within 24 hours of auction close and will hold thecarfor 10 days after auction.Seller will help arrange with shippingbut shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility.Have your financing secure before bidding if you plan to finance.Buyer can pay cash in person or wire me the money or overnight me a check, ut you can NOT take the vehicle until all the money has cleared. Please don't ask the reserve price as I want everyone to have a fair chance at winning this greatcar.
